Is there value to cargo pods? I feel cargo is more like fluid transports in todays transport world and hence need transfer points, holding tanks and pipes(size of your storage pull eg 100, 1000, 10000 per tick) I guess some nice standard designs for routing to cut and paste with info displays...

First placing activation modules next to storage is not needed now, just c-> v stuff. Get the full/empty working on the hold(on the ship) from your description adding a docker later shouldn't change it.

Yes I had I across rails. Ok a work around is like the salvage gun workaround of using a prestorage. Everything goes to it then to your mainstorage. The prestorage captures your overflow as it were after your main storage says its full

I think you are on to something, run the green rails from the drones position inside the retracted bay leading out through the docked bays travel and out to the existing pickup point. The drones will dock and wait at the point they collide with the bay. As the bay retracts the drones will move...

did you beam dock or location dock the drones to the carriers pickup rail. because you need to location dock them

I don't know about the 4-5 items in a clipboard(i think not) as the game is new to me too, but holding left ctrl or left shift or left alt will give you rotation around a different axis with the mouse wheel.
