It is a little worrying to read that damning account of Keen Software, but I will remain hopeful that they actually work on the game properly. That quote is pretty well used so maybe the devs will realise they cant mess around. I agree that its a bit expensive for the stage its at too.

Also, who ever it was that couldn\'t think of single player games, I must have played through Bioshock and Dead Space numerous times each. Everyone likes playing against real people which is why MP became popular, and in turn there was less focus on the single player side. I kinda miss how awsome single player can be.

I suspect you were reading too far into my post.

I do have no problem with your opinion or you sharing it. In fact, I did agree that assuming Space Engineers developers really did fail so much at finalizing their last game in a manner promised to their followers, it is somewhat disturbing. However, I also pointed out that this early in development we shouldn\'t give their current game no chance as it may turn out to be decent as and this time developers may do better work. I encouraged objectivity and moderation in judgement as I personally believe there\'s nothing yet to feel strongly about - I think we should wait and see how the game will turn out.

Regarding your spelling - it wasn\'t as much a complaint as a hint regarding my earlier suggestion: that you should write a mail to developers with a feedback regarding what you dislike in case of Space Engineers as such mail may actually help them make a good game. For mails like that, though (and to be honest beside writing such, as well) it\'s good to maintain certain level of spelling, grammar etc as - knowing from experience - it really makes it far easier to understand and seriously consider the message - which is obviously a good thing when you want your feedback to matter. That way, they may be able to improve the game without there being any additional issues.

The fact that I had some minor difficulties with finishing reading your post without taking a break was more of me telling you why you may want to work on your typing when writing aforementioned mail, rather than me going on some great crusade of pointing out your mistakes. I don\'t know you, but I am quite sure that you don\'t need me to do so even if you\'d want improve in this regard.

I never said that you shouldn\'t post your impressions elsewhere and thus I\'d appreciate if you wouldn\'t claim such things as it\'s simply not true.

Really, while I understand that internet is quite full of hate and blatantly aggresive criticism, you shouldn\'t take everything so personally as there\'s still people who - even if they don\'t see things your way and are willing to say so - bear you no ill will. Anyway, hope that clarifies things.

In response to the OP, there is directional thrust, you just have to change the orientation of the thrusters, it\'s not like Starmade where you only need thrusters facing forward, you need them facing in all 6 directions. As for turning speed, it\'s not completely based on the mass of the ship, the more gyros it has the faster the ship will turn.

As it\'s already been said, there isn\'t a lot in the game at the moment, weapons have been disabled, factories, doors, storage containers and a few other things don\'t do anything yet. There\'s no survival mode at the moment, no enemies, no randomly generated worlds or resource gathering, and you\'re just locked in creative mode with infinite items and a few asteroids to either crash stuff into or build stations around. From what I\'ve played of it it\'s still fun just to build ships or stations and crash into stuff.

I just hope the devs won\'t screw it up like they apparently did with Miner Wars.

Let me just say this once, space engineers is quite new, think about starmade when it was new. Nuff Said.

Doesn\'t change the fact that StarMade is much more enjoyable to play atm.

I\'ll bother with Space Engineers again once they add more functional components and some more things to explore.

I dislike that the game doesn\'t feel so smooth right now, guess that\'ll get its fix too in the future, although Miner Wars had this exact same issue and it never got fixed, without being an overly impressive game graphically.

People have been asking me to port SMEdit to Space Engineers. I dropped them a line asking what their general support was for 3rd party tools and if I could sign a non-compeating wavier or get a license that let me see their code under NDA. They wrote back to me within 24 hours.

Not quite wanting to jump horses yet, I sent more-or-less the same inquiry to Schema at the same time. It\'s been a week and I have heard nothing from him.

Not to intersect with the modding thread, but, if being friendly to modders is the hallmark of a good game, then Space Engineers is currently ahead of Star Made. Here\'s hoping Schema decides to do something about this.

Luckily, Schema doesn\'t already have a history of cheating his customers, unlike the guys behing Space Engineers.

I\'m keeping an eye on SE, but until they prove they can be trusted in delivering a good product including all the stuff they\'ve promised, they\'re not getting any money from me.

I feel the urge to throw in my two cents here...

It\'s a larger name developer hopping on the voxel bandwagon. The game seems to not be inspired byStarmade so much as the demand for sandbox games that came around after Gmod and Minecraft. Naturally the price won\'t be remotely.related to the quality of the game. They expect previous customers to return and be willing to pay good money for the idea of a gamet
I spent two days getting the game and playing it, and the optimization is horrible. According to their forums, the devs have staed that adding features is a higher priority than making the engine function properly. There are parts which, currently, are cosmetic only - tools and weapons, etc. They may eventually be given function, but the time spent on modeling them could have gone towards expanding their potential customer basr to include those without extreme gaming rigs or Windows.

Wait until it has everything yhey promised before buying it. Otherwise, keep playing Starmade and Blockade Runner.

Ignore the typos, I\'m on a phone and this site has no mobile support (no internet at home rigbt now)

BUY games? Bwhahahahaha...although TBH Starmade will be the first game I buy in 3 years...

Anyway, excuse my language but Starmade has so many things over the pissant excuse of a game that is Space Engineers. I know about KSH and they ain\'t nice. This game has a better community, better developer and a brighter future in general. Schema does almost 4 times the work than most game developers and yet somehow a team of multiple fully-paid programmers and artists can\'t keep up. Not only that but they are asking for payment of an ALPHA which is a no-no in my books. I hate to sound like a kiss-ass but Schema is the only developer I have hope in, KSH? Not so much. The physics engine isn\'t even that good.

First off the OP clearly cant write english correctly thus I assume he cant read english all that well either. SE has only been out for a few months now. SM has been out MUCH MUCH longer than that. SE recently made mining drills useable. It is still WIP dont act like they finished it and are done. I belive they might have learned from their past as they seem much better.

That doesn\'t have multiplayer, and it was good. It\'s also not open world.

Starmade began in 2010 and Space Engineers began in 2013, so, by subtracting 2010 from 2013, we find that Starmade has three years on Space Engineers, which just released an alpha build in October. This leads us to believe that Starmade is a more \"finished\" game than Space Engineers, which is, in its own right, still a very impressive game in its extremely early Alpha state. Space Engineers does cost $15, but, even in Alpha, it has given me its worth. Check out my ship: http://imgur.com/g2qDOqX. Flight is done very well and feels a lot better than in Starmade, in my opinion. The inertia dampeners and directional thrusters really helps with all of it; plus the more gyroscopes you can squeeze onto your ship, the faster it will turn and roll. They just recently added motors, which can be used to create massive doors, gates, rotating communication towers, the Jellyfish from Star Trek (Spock\'s Ship), and a vast number of other things. Those of you speaking against the developer\'s reputation, they have been putting out updates for Space Engineers weekly every Thursday like clockwork and each gives the players something new to play around with. It shows incredible promise and gives me something to look forward to every week. I don\'t think they\'re the same company that you\'re familiar with. Based on what I\'ve seen of Miner Wars, the developers have quite a bit of experience when it comes to a game like this, especially space-based NPC AIs where Starmade falls short.

    Going to continue this later.

Either a number of you don\'t fully understand what an Alpha or simple researching is, or you\'re just stupid. God damn.

Starmade is a one-man band. Schema (as far as I know) is the only one who works on Starmade code. Sure, he can get people to do things like make the new player model, but Schema is the only one that makes the code. Space Engineers has a team of devs, of course they will have a better alpha. Just saying. :/

I read forum of Space Engineers and this will not be a sci-fi games. They\'re basing only in mechanics and physics. No lasers, shields etc. Not for this moment as features. Starmade is the best :)

New to Starmade, and stumbled into this thread... It has me questioning my faith in the maturity (and potentially intelligence) of this gaming community... Really hoping this is more of an isolated case.

I picked up Space Engineers when it became available for early access. EARLY ACCESS, I repeat that because it\'s obvious that people in here do not understand what that means. This is the equivalent of a broad alpha testing release, letting the community try it out and provide suggestions, feedback, etc. If you didn\'t get that, you didn\'t read a single thing in the description or the purchasing process you went through, it is spelled out repeatedly. It\'s a work in progress, and is blatantly (and repeatedly) advertised as such.

As for the \"Keen sucks\" comments... So far, we\'ve been seeing about an update a week, with repeated tweaks and fixes, adding features, unlocking items, all as the code is stabilized enough to try on the public. There are even polls used by the developers to ask what features the players would like to see prioritized. I\'ve seen nothing of a \"take the money and run\" mentality, if anything there is a strong sense of support and continued development. I have confidence it will become a solid platform, and Keen\'s outright encouragement and support of the mod community will help it become that much better in the end.

I know there are plenty of people out there who have nothing but negative attitudes, and many don\'t bother with things like descriptions or instructions, but at the very least try to have an educated viewpoint. The initial comment in this thread made it obvious that someone went in with ridiculously over-inflated expectations for a game that wasn\'t even in true alpha testing yet, and the \"review\" really makes that evident.

Ironically enough, I heard about Starmade from the Space Engineers crowd, and they had nothing but nice things to say about it... They are different games, for different play styles and experiences, but both seem pretty cool.

A few years ago alphas and betas that were public were non existent, and now many companies are trying to sucker people into buying a lackluster product and not complaining because \"it\'s in [alpha/beta] and we aren\'t finished yet.\"

    Fix\'d.

Just look at SOE\'s Dragon\'s Prophet... In the end, nothing major in the game\'s workings ever really changed after public \"Beta\" release... Features being added to that game now should really have been in at \"release\" (which really didn\'t consist of much). And it doesn\'t seem to be the first time, nor will it be the last.
