I finally found hardcore proof that that red and others are actually paid by skywanderers to secure starmades downfall.
Today, I decided to take a look at the forums, for the first time in 6 months, just to see what was going on.

I logged on for the first time in 6 months, just to respond to this picture. As someone who occasionally looks at the SkyWanderers discord, I can confirm this is 100% accurate. We constantly seek new ways to fund this game's downfall, slowly siphoning players from this game to SkyWanderers. Soon, you will all be assimilated. Resistance is futile.

I took the time to read this thread, and some others around on the site. I am amazed that even after so many of us have left you're finding new and interesting ways to rip into each other. Nothing has changed since I left.

We still have Ed, religiously blaming everything on the toxic people, completely lacking the self-awareness to realise he was one defending the moderation tactics used and saying anyone who called them out is 'libelling' them.
MacThule drinking the cool-aid. Saying that we're all Russian bots being paid off by the French.
    Az14el pissing into their eyes.
JinM telling people what they should or shouldn't say.
That one guy with a Jordan Peterson picture just kinda making snide comments

Everyone sitting there and accusing everyone else of lying or conspiring to ruin everything. Dredging up old shit on everyone else, pretending like any of us would actually remember what we said 6 months ago when everything bloody imploded. Or that what we said back then matters or made any sense. I know for a fact I barely remember what I said back then. But I seem to recall thinking something like this would happen.

People were talking about the Universe Update when I left and how it would fix everything, and we've still not had it, have we? Schine has made the same mistake they made with the Power Update, telling us *months* before it's ready and promising the world. Now I took two prodeine forte tablets before now and I'm getting a bit light-headed and rambley.

    Don't do drugs kids
I might check back and see what's going on here in about 6 months, hopefully that Universe Update will be out by then. And maybe everything will be perfect. Everyone will be skipping in space-lego meadows, reminiscing about how silly we all were. MacThule will be holding Thadius' fucking hand and laughing. As they play a game, no, a beautiful piece of art that's perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
And I will come back, like a former drug addict returning to his family and seeing Jesus, begging for forgiveness.

Or you'll all still be at it, shouting and arguing while the game itself is essentially forgotten. No longer a community for StarMade, but a community doomed to constant hostilities because that constant salt has replaced StarMade as your source of entertainment and fulfilment. I'll have a laugh for a few hours before leaving again.

I need to go to sleep now.

Well at least there's something to look forward to

If all of the updates (less than a dozen major content patches!) since the original weapons update had come out in within two years (compare to minecraft beta's development cycle), nobody would really give a shit about how bad they were since they would have been largely fixed within a month or so.

Unfortunately, Schine is in the habit of pushing out approximately two content updates a year.

People clearly left because the game entered a state of stagnation where you could complain about a completely broken new feature that had just come out and reasonably expect it to remain broken for a year or more. Most of the community here just comes back every few months to see if schine FINALLY pushed that "fix everything" update that would make the game playable again. The one they have more or less promised for four years after every content addition that was either broken on arrival or broke something else.

Just a few months ago, schine released a "total weapons overhaul" that was promised to be "final and well balanced". They got some stuff right but the stuff they got wrong is just really fuckin confusing because it's the most basic shit any player could tell you how to fix. It's really just basic values balancing for the weapons that completely undermines the entire update by reducing it to "beams are now the only weapon", and invalidates the other additions that are actually helpful.

Doesn't help that at one point the moderation decided to go nuclear and purge/scare off the entire active playerbase.

Schine's goal isn't to draw more players in at this time. There are enough to test the game in its current state, so it's not worth introducing new players who can decide to avoid coming back later on. Schine is also saving multiple free promotional assets until Starmade reaches Beta, a point where they feel the game is suitable for most players to come and stay for more than what we have now.

So while the small community can be alarming at times, everything seems to be going-to-plan for now.

If the plan isn't to draw in players, why is the game for sale? Is it because there are only 22 active players on at 3:14 eastern time across all updated servers?

The game is for sale for players who want to invest in a title they deem promising. If all is well when the game hits beta, early adopters make a good deal from the support they showed in that time. If Schine needs extra coin, there isn't anything preventing them from saying so.

Just because they aren't actively trying to draw in large numbers of new players doesn't mean they can't allow people to join and invest into their game... :P

Reading through the rest of this thread, a lot of the opinions expressed here rather... confuse me. Do people honestly think that making the bad men go away would have saved the game? Some of these people did and still do go far beyond what is necessary, I'll grant you, but overall, if all the issues aren't discovered, explored, and outlined in detail so they might be fixed, then Schine would have just continued building in-game content, new systems, and the game overall on top of a flawed base. With StarMade being an at least partially player-driven sandbox game, exploitative players will be present, and if the obvious avenues for them to take advantage of the game's systems aren't dealt with, things are going to suck for everyone later on. The honest competitive PvPer will be corralled into a shitty meta (as we see now, actually) and have a pretty terrible time, the creative builder's work will be made irrelevant by stupid-looking cookie-cutter ships that outcompete his or her designs regardless of how the systems are built, the multiplayer PvE player will find him/herself out-competed and likely trolled off the server by cheesing and exploiters, and eventually even the small co-op private server players will have a hard time finding people to play with as the poor reviews from the majority of other types of player drive entry rates below the break-even point with the natural rate of attrition. Even those who play the game to break it might not have much fun in the end, if accomplishing stupidly overpowered or otherwise generally broken things is easy and all the avenues to do it are easily discovered and used by those with the right mindset.

Not too long ago, StarMade's ratings on Steam were at 'Mostly Positive'. Now, they're at 'Mixed' for overall and 'Mostly Negative' for most recent. The community is falling apart. It's easy to put the blame on the Weapons and Power updates for driving away old players, but the issue now is that complicated, unpolished game mechanics are preventing new players from integrating themselves into the game. I took the time to read a few of the most recent reviews, and they all complain about the same things: Overpowered pirates, complicated mechanics, half-finished features, and the excessive amount of grinding required to build anything.
I understand that it's less work to add all content and then fix those systems once, without doing it every time new content comes out, but if new players look at the existing content and say "This has potential, but it's not good enough right now" you'll never get the support you need to move to that final, finished stage. I am excited for the Universe Update, especially the addition of music and new planets, but a quick glace at the Steam page shows that the majority of new players can't connect with the current game enough to stay. Once the Universe Update comes out, I hope you'll focus more on balancing and improving current systems, rather than creating new content. I have always recommended StarMade to others, and probably will continue to do so. But if you're going to attract new players, I believe that changes are going to have to be made to the development process.

(On the other hand, your support team is incredible. They were willing to help me recover my account on a weekend in less than 24 hours.)
What also drives away the new players is how the community treats them. I'm probably one of the few new players to actually keep playing. I completely agree. Also, scheme needs to get more guys on his dev team, in the coding department. So that way, more big fixes can occur. The game will probably get out of beta if schema had other coders.

Coding doesn't really work like that. The only person who can really understand Starmade's engine is Schema. He made it he's the only one who knows how to use it.

really so only 1 coder can work at any 1 project at a time and no one else can learn or take over that project :)

For already made engines like unreal engine and such it can be done. But for custom made ones like starmade's engine the only person who really understands how it works is the person who wrote it. It's why schema is pretty much the only coder. It's not that the other schine team members don't know how to code it's that it would be difficult for Schema to teach them how Starmade's engine worked.

Even for triple A games, while other team members can use the company's engine and understand it just fine, the actual engine itself usually isn't modified much, as the only person who really understands that engine is the person who wrote it. It's why companies will use the same engine for years for multiple games as their team members have gotten accustomed to working with it and would find it difficult to adapt to a new one.

For Starmade, because Schema's the only one who's really touched the Starmade engine for like over 10 years (Starmade's engine was originally written a while ago), it would take a while for other Schine team members to learn how it works. While yes, they COULD learn it, it would be very time consuming and it would be better for them to work in other roles such as modeling and texturing while Schema handles the programming.

TheDerpGamerX wauw i dont know what to say :) lets just disagree shall we... i mean wauw

if we take this noob project as an example noob project

you should be able to get an idea of the amount of collaboration and team work there is actually done in software development
1,000 – Each release contains the work of at least this many developers.
