Does it occur to you that the engineer who made these new blocks is pretty horrible at making things? I mean, what self-respecting engineer would make a power system that EXPLODES UNCONTROLLABLY when hit, with no method to stop said explosions? Sci-fi is full of "eject the core" or "flush the coolant" "shut down the reactor" to keep things from going boom. Granted, usually it takes precious minutes (or an entire drydock refit in the case of large capitals) to get the system back up and running, but SURELY whoever made this system has an "O SHIT" button to shut the thing off when things start exploding.

TL;DR: Its stupid to have things constantly explode, we need to be able to turn off the auxiliaries to stop the explosions, but then have to wait x seconds/minutes before we can turn them back on.

I'm curious, what was the root cause of the lag with regards to docked reactors?
Was it the docked entity, ultimately the docking mechanic?
Was it to do with increased entity count?
    Was it collisions?
Was it all of the above?
    Is there anything else?
Docked reactors are likely built inside the ship for protection. When they undock they can collide indefinitely inside. Turrets and other docked objects are usually not as large, or are built externally and float off into space fairly quickly.

Really, it should be "disable to save part/all of your ship" or "have at least some power". Wherein, if shut down, you will be spending some time in spacedock waiting for heavy-duty repairs...that or a lot of time in the field, making field repairs that will only give you so much back.

I am so bummed about not having internet beyond my phone at the moment. Is there any way to download the patches on my phone to apply them on my desktop?

Doubt it, Zek. You can't really run that amount and type of information through the phone. Maybe if you could turn your phone into a Wi-Fi hotspot or something, but other than that, you can't just freely download and move files off of a phone, it's just not made for it.

Uh, maybe if you have a locked up phone? It's pretty easy to transfer files back and forth with most androids, though...

Are the builds still posted online for download? I don't remember the page. You could probably download them from there and transfer.

I'd recommend against using it as a hotspot because Steam and Windows like to do big updates.

Hmm. Additional entity checks issue is not likely to go away with the introduction of this docked reactor replacement. There are far more turrets, rail doors, mechanical moving parts for deployment of fighters, drones and fancy tucked away turrets would logically cause a greater concern than a few reactors.

Would collision detection be related to the power beam or when the reactor detached?

Sorry, I mean, detachment only or does the beam way in on the lag to?

Android can tether straight to a computer if you've got a mini USB, which will provide internet access.

Honestly, none of those are as bad as far as lag goes. Except for maybe turrets, if the player goes too ham with them, or fighters/drones if too many are deployed at once. Drones are generally less laggy than you'd think as well, because most of the lag comes from checks in combat, and you almost definitely want the drones deployed before combat really starts. Turrets are a bigger problem, though them not generally being impeded in the ships structure to as great a degree as reactors.

Rail doors/lifts etc are tiny enough to not really need much server power, compared to docked reactors which where by necessity fairly big, and a bigger entity rattling around in a ship is more lag caused then a smaller one. Something else to bare in mind is rail doors etc provide no combat benefit, and turrets provide a benefit that can't really be replicated with another system. This system however more or less totally fills the same niche in the game (potentially not quite as efficient, though compensates by being malleable) while eliminating one big source of lag.

Lecic, you must be kidding me? Except for the addtional blocks, like power supp and storages, a 1666 e\block reactor is easy as shit. a 900 long stick of power generators gives you approximately 1 500 000 regen (I consider it to be the sweetspot of the curve). 1500000\900=1666. Of course, you should reduce that number by the addtional blocks mentioned above, but it still goes around 700-800 per total block. Not fucking 200 per block. 4 times nerf? I am not into that.

Hello ! Good update, especialy the new Auxilliary Power !
There's a problem : The new Rail anti-collision system don't detect opened Force Field as a free way ! Can't recall or launch my fighters from my Carrier anymore...

someone say ghostblocked power supplies? (the ones of mine that got posted were 112/s/block, sooooooo op m8... so what in the ACTUAL FUCK kinda generator did they use to compare and get 202?)

At any rate, I can now perma-jam while full firing a 2.2million mass ship at 1/30 reactors to aux ratio. So there's that.

Power supply beams consume 300e per block and tick at a tick rate of 0.5, with 2.5s burst duration and 5s cooldown. That's 300e/s on average. To fully utitlize the 1.5 mil e/s you need 5000 blocks. 1 500 000 / (5000+900) = 254, and that's without capacitors and the other needed blocks.

I see your point, and yes, you are right. I forgot about the consume value.

    Very specific question...

Give me links to those suggestions and I'll explain why. I can't really tell you "why" because there was a lot of various suggestions, and the answers for them are all different. I won't waste my time re-answering to things if you can't even be bothered to use the search function, or at least provide specific examples.

Suggestion 1: Leave undocked entities in the reference system of the mothership (like a ship-aligned astronaut), if it couldn't go anywhere anyways. This would avoid most collision checks.

Suggestion 2: Replace the power soft cap by a logarithmic or similar curve for the dimensional bonus, which would still punish size, without making docked reactors necessary.
