Well, I think the story I'm about to illustrate with pictures, happened to many players.
So, I hop into my miner to go on an exploration run. Charge both main and emergency jump drive in case I end up too close to a sun or something like that. You know, standard procedure you learn to do after you get burnt to a crisp once or twice.
I choose a shop I haven't been to yet so I could maybe leech some credits off it. I jump to coordinates and suddenly have to realise the shop is too close to the system's (blue) star, and out of reflex I hit the emergency drive.

Well, sh*t. I start strafing so my point defense actually can get a bead on the missile AND to get the hell outta there. Too late, I take a hit, bye shields, and guess what, I drift right into the firing arc of the next missile turret:
I don't think you need a lot of imagination what happened next (yes, that's another incoming missile. And my ship had only basic hull Also notice the green blops that are my point defense turrets blown off by the first missile)
