Damn cant re-use the Salvagers, corvette is too large.
Oh well I guess I cant participate anyway if I am the one going to help give out the prizes.
Zimmer, just contact me if you need some delicious steam codes or something for games as prizes.

lol Now to actually cook up some interesting pirates. So far I haven't been doing fleets in a way that 5 ships are good but it'll help me try at least. :)

Ooh! Another one! I look forward to seeing what y'all come up with!

Admins have "wave management", options now, apparently. Servers can use those to implement multiple pirate factions with unique vessels and formations in each one, from how it sounds in the devlog.

Finished the first ship for my fleet and have 50-75% of the hull of the second ship.

Hmm in the middle of the first ship of mine and was wondering how people felt about Loot Pinata Ships? That aside it is a good thing there isn't a lower limit in my case. Basically I'm working with the resources people need the most and most of these guys are good at one thing running away. :P Outside of systems they need they are pretty much nothing but capsules, crystal composite, and alloyed metal mesh. :)

I'm a novice and I've started building ships that I was originally only intending for my server, but would be interested to see how they fare against others.

I have one ship complete, 9 others on the drawing board. Nothing as fancy as some of the amazing stuff I've seen here, but then I don't want them to be unstoppable super giants of the spaceways. :)

Sounds almost like something I would want to run into! Haha

Alrighty, i'll take the first entry! [Link Here]
Sorry for the lack of ship diversity but...ran out of ideas.

The "fleet/squadron?" consists of 3 leading ships that are refits of the Enigma that I posted a while back(under 900 mass), also the 2 escorts (under 120 mass).

Here is a picture of a V formation.

*EDIT* ENTRY RETRACTED IN ORDER TO BUILD MORE SHIPS.

Wait a minute. I am perhaps confused. I thought the competition was for five 'different' designs, not five 'ships' some of which could repeat the same design. I am perfectly fine having it be ships as opposed to designs, as there are only so many combat effective concepts I can come up with, and rearranging some hull and color on those simply to give them a different chrome seems to me to be a rather fruitless exercise (for me anyway).

    I'm up next!

The following 4 ships cover a mass range of 180 to 1600.

    From smallest to largest:

    - Shrike starfighter (bottom left)
Despite its 1005 blocks, this little fighter is not to be underestimated. Covered in advanced armor and equipped with a pretty strong shield (5096) for its small size, it can withstand an amazing amount of damage, and use its lock-on missiles and cutting beam to dish some out on its own with surgical accuracy.

    - Shrike-2 starfighter (top middle)
Being the bigger brother of the standard Shrike, this 288 mass fighter can prove to be a lot more than simple nuisance. While also boasting a lot of advanced armor, it backs it up for even more, 7070 shields. Its offensive capabilities include a twin continous beam laser and 4 lock-on missiles.

    - Myrmidon heavy fighter(bottom right)
Stepping it up, comes the pirate refit of the Myrmidon, clocking in at 855 total mass. The ship doesn't only have an over 2.0 thrust/mass ratio, but also comes with 40 thousand shields, 4 anti-missile turrets and standard armor. For offense, it uses twin punch-through autocannons and 4 lock-on missiles.

    - Pillager heavy bomber(left-most)
Heaviest of this pirate fleet, at 1582 mass, the Pillager is the law-abiding citizen's nightmare. With its 122 thousand shields it's by far the thougest of the 4, and has 3 different weapon systems at its disposal: twin explosive autocannons, lock-on missiles and a fast-firing plasma bomb launcher, capable of terrifying amounts of destruction against slow, unarmored targets - like mining vessels and freighters, for example.
Worst of all, Pillagers have 2 thrust/mass ratio and equip one of the brand-new jump inhibitors as well, making running away from them a very difficult task to accomplish.

Time to get to work! *Put on shades* -> Epic fail of a fleet incoming!
I like your work. Those extended parts, are they mechanically retractable/extendable?

Roughed in my first ship's hull and systems last night and did some battle testing. Why is cannon-cannon so much stronger than beam-cannon?

Yes the Mass limit is 1,000 since the fleet needs to be challenging for stronger players but not overwhelming for someone new on a server. If your ship is to heavy I would suggest adding a bigger interior ;) ;)

Epic ships! However if you want to be competitive I would suggest varying up the designs a bit (doesnt have to be a huge change but any variance between ships will give your fleet a stronger chance at winning).

Loving the fleet but it seems your mass is to high for the Pillager (Bigger interior can help solve that). Also you are missing one design which will hinder how well you do in the scoring.

Best of luck to all the entries so far and to everyone working on designs!

jzimmerman4, is it five different 'designs' of ships or a fleet of five ships which can share the same designs? Can I submit five Marauders for a fleet?
If it is under 500 mass then technically yes (at least 2 ships have to be >500) but the judging is also on ship diversity so you wouldnt be able to score many points there unless you did some heavy modifications. Hope that helps!
