Well, as Miow22 says, your post needs to be a bit more informative, I'll just work with what I have.that is why we have starsystems
The main reason is sectors are the "base" when it comes to navigation and star systems are way too large for that kind of thing. No-one asks what star system someone is in. They ask what sector they are in. By increasing the sector size, this "base unit" seems like a bit more of a landmark or checkpoint, so to speak. It would also be great for navigation, as showing objects on a sector-by-sector basis would make a bit more sense as currently it uses a set radius because sectors are too small for that.
