The idea of true landing gear is very interesting. I wonder if, in addition to adding friction, if we can get environment-reactive rails. Environment-reactive rails would work the same as regular rails, but would stop their motion or be pushed back on the rail if they encounter any resistance. It would be neat to see a landing gear wrap around terrain features, with robotic toes being pushed up by rough terrain, instead of the ship sitting on a single terrain block or three, with un-deformed landing gear fully extended.
