    The Maul is the pride of the mining corps. She's a fully equipped light frigate with all the amenities. Her massive Sc-115x10 Harvester Beam makes light work of asteroids and is fairly good at chewing away at planets. The automatic material collection system will also automatically sort your spoils. The Maul may not be a combat salvager but the on board defense turrets should protect you from light pirate raids.

    Designed to keep a crew of 12 comfortable she has medical and dedicated shower facilities, as well as a galley/kitchen. The Maul has two UCS SMART Airlocks for entering the ship as well and small cargo bay needed to store supplies for long journeys as the ship has no nutrition producing facilities.

    While she doesn't have a dedicated landing pad like the Axe the Maul does have two docking clamps for Chisels or similarly size craft or up to 4 L0 cargo pods.

    I really like how it is symmetrical from the outside and asymmetcrical on the inside this way the space is used so much more efficiently. Liked the windows on your crew quaters.
    I'll be honest, I needed a mining ship hastily, so I downloaded the first thing that wasn't too large to get the job done. I did not like the looks of this ship at first, partly because I had a graphical error, which made some of the parts not render. I was about to take it apart and look for something else, but then I saw all the awesome buttons all over the place, so I started pushing them to see what they do.

    The lightning changing when you open what I assume are hangar doors actually turned me one-eighty, it was one little detail that blew my mind, so I decided to fly it a little bit. It handles well, and does mining okay. What surprised me the most is how well the sorting system works on this ship. In fact, the interior design alone makes me never want to leave this beautiful creation ever again. It's a pity It's impossible to put factories on ships, because I would ditch my base just to live in this masterpiece.

    The only problem I have with it, is that the turrets on it are literally just for show, they die in seconds even when facing the weakest of foes, and barely do any damage. I have replaced some of them for functional turrets, and I am currently working on balancing turrets so that they can bite and look like they fit at the same time.

    I am picky when it comes to my turrets, I've tried to build more effective ones but they never work in terms of aesthetics. The two main missile turrets may get an upgrade in the next update to this ship as I also have a few storage bugs worked out since this release. I also usually replace the stock chin gun with a third missile turret when I fly the ship, although this does slow the jump drive down slightly.

    Other turret concerns should be less an issue when we can simply repair ships to their original specs without having to replace them one by one by one, although with the new buy by block system I don't mind it so much. I just buy all the blueprints, fill them with blocks and then place them. It just seems easier then buy, place, buy, place...

    From what I heard we will be able to have factories on ships sometime in the future but I do not know what restrictions the ships will face.

    Thanks for the review! The cost of hardened hull outweighs the benefit. This ship was built from all crafted materials and is intended to be fairly easy to acquire early game. The amount of crystal and standard armor makes it fairly expensive already. Always keep your jump drive charged and while the ships shields can take a beating it's best to run before you loose them, lets say at10%.
