    Legitimate Freighter 2014-11-17


    This Freighter was originally created in the first big hyperspace boom, to move "high priority cargo". Tar-Ron-Pha shipyards felt that there was a need for a hyperspace capable freighter for servicing small quantity long distance cargo runs. Unfortunately, advances in manufacturing also drastically reduced all but massive bulk transport soon after. Unsuited for a private yacht, and under-powered for pirate use, the "Golden cherub" class of ship was mostly scrapped, and can be found only in the deepest backwaters serving merchants that literally cannot afford better.


    The Freighter's small, cramped interior does have everything needed to keep a crew of four alive for several weeks, or even months, but the drab appearance and clunky controls are sure to make any lengthy stay unpleasant at best.

    The ship is powered by a second generation knockoff micro-fusion plant, the software for which is written in arabic (and installed upside-down). Without an upgrade, this will render the craft both anemic and slow, while the early generations of micro-fusion plants tended to be barely more efficient than their traditional counterparts.


    This specific ship, the "Heir of Legitimacy", has gone through many owners in the seventy five years she was built. The current owners seem to have kitted her out at one point for a VERY long journey, installing some old Intracorp push-drive coils in place of some of the gravitic drivers.

    Additionally modified is the cargo-handling system. Originally designed to handle seven small (now obsolete) cargo modules, the ship now can handle two of the large standard ones and a small landing shuttle. There are computer-controls for cargo handling, also by intracorp.

    Whoever owns this ship now, chances are they did not pay much for it, and do not expect much out of it. Still, she has potential. The basic hull is ridiculously over-engineered from durotanium alloy, and there are nice wide spaces, particularly in the nose, where someone might install additional systems. The engines, now far from stock, have thousands of light years left in them. Replace the reactor, and you have a fast smuggler, fleet collier, or troop transport.

    I really like the push drive concept. How did you create the push drive? The astetics are nice. The stats are terrible. Also, great nartive in the description.

    The simple explanation is you just create a logic loop that toggles an activator on and off, and link that activator to the push module computer. Simple version only takes activator, delay, and not module, but mine is a bit more complex because I like more control over it.

    The Stats are terrible on purpose. :) This ship is not just for Roll Play, but it is roll-playing a beat up old ship.
