You know, for a one-man ship, you could have a cockpit, not just an exposed core.
I had a small spacebike with a perma-jammer and a fully pressurized cockpit, the whole thing not larger than 3x3x6 meters... Unfortunately it was lost, so no upload - but it's possible.
