The Good, the Bad, and the Oh So Ugly - Wolfyance review.
The Good:
An excellent recreation of a fine ship from STO. The lines were smooth and clean inside and out. I especially like where there is blast shield doors at 1/4 used as covers on important parts. That's a great touch.
For a fighter, it handles pretty well. Enough shields to withstand a single Isanth (non-missile) attack, and very nimble to boot. Excellent touch on the cannon/disrupter weapons. You used a little freedom in making them double-barrelled, but it works out well.
The Bad:
Low power regen. It has enough regen to fly and shoot. Adding a radar jammer adds to the power consumption. However, I think it's a good thing. I remember playing the original ST Role-playing game years ago, and you had to really manage where your power went. It's the same with shows/movies. So I think it was more realistic to fly.
Other thing that was "bad" was the missiles/torpedoes. Loved the red color! However I'm not sure if it was intentional to not have the Beam attached to it for guidance. Works either way for me, though it did make it harder when they were dumb-fire.
The Oh So Ugly:
Klingon ships are known for being red lit interior wise. The use of white light inside was jarring, but easily replaced. (How many Klingon's does it take to change a light bulb?.....)
On the flip side, you did make good use of red force-fields in the cockpit part. Nice.
Also it's very true to being spartan on the inside, right down to the flat hard beds that a good Klingon warrior needs. No bathroom, guess they just piss out door at the enemy...
Last on the Ugly, it's bigger that listed stats. But that's a SM size thing to make it look and perform well. I know as I tried making a 7m ship from Macross and that wasn't going to work. Ended up with 50m long. =)
Overall, I give it 5 howls. Nimble, well designed, and it would make a great fleet addition and/or faction ship. Heck, it's overall a fun and useful ship. Good work! I look forward to flying the other STO fighters if you find the time. (Nudge nudge wink wink.)
