Inspired by topmonkey's design, I thought I would give it my own spin.
This took me about a month to finish. It's not completly finished though. It still needs a to have decorative blocks added in the Sick Bay, Mess Hall, Crew Quarters, and Transporter Room and ... I did my best to lay out the decks according to the Star Trek fan site plans, but the systems ended up takeing too much space. I did away with all the cargo bays on the 3rd deck to make room for the Deffensive Ion Effect System.

    Mass: 5585.5
    Length: 120
    Width: 91
    Height: 20
    Thrust: 5918.3
    Power: 3,142,290.2 / 876,670.1 recharge
    Shields: 500,052 / 50,176 recharge
    3X Jump Drives
Defensive Ion Effect System (full effect)
    Weapons:
4X Beam/Cannon/Explosive (Continuous Fire, no cool down)
(because of slow turn speed I used beams instead of cannons as main)
    2X Missile/Pulse (2 minute reload)

    Beam Blocks: 1858
    Cannon Blocks: 1676
    Missile Blocks: 1860
    Pulse Blocks: 1860
    Ion Blocks: 2782
    Explosive Blocks: 186

    When attacking a Pirate base:
without Ion turned on, my shields only got down to 98% while turrets and fighers were attacking me. It took 3 mins 15 seconds to take down 2.7 million shields with only the beam weapons. I then tried unlinking the explosive and relinking to the ion effect, and it only took 60 seconds to drain 2.7 million shields. It's a bit difficult to manuver to hit pirate fighters though.

    Defiant vs Defiant:
With Defensive Ion turned off: 40 seconds to drain shields
With Defensive Ion turned on: 3 minutes to drain shields
Attacking Defiant with ion linked to weapons:
Defending Defiant Ion turned off: 12 seconds to drain shields
Defending Defiant Ion turned on: 40 seconds to drain shields

    Have fun.

    Fantastic!
Yay, it's perfect again! (I would've given the older version 4.5 stars if the system let me).

The only issue I can see is that leaving the smaller shuttlepods will drop you out of the ship, but the only way that could be fixed would be if the developers fix this bizarre bug concerning the core.

Edit: There is a slight issue with the docking tunnel. The button that controls it is blocked by door bricks.
Tough little ship indeed! ("Little?" - Worf) The core spawning issue is most easily fixed by sitting on a block near the core (O key by default) before entering. Exiting will spawn you in the same sitting position on the same block, aligned to the ship even when it's on the move in any angle. So that won't take your 5th star (but then, I'm pretty biased. I love Star Trek)

    thanks for the good review.

And thanks for the advice on sitting before entering the core. I kind of knew about it, but I thought you had to be sitting on a wedge. I didn't know you could sit on the floor.

    Thanks :)
She's still good, but there now a couple of issues. The first one is that none of the shuttles are linked with the hanger control blocks. The second one is that leaving the shuttles or main ship core itself will make you fall out the bottom (though that may be a game glitch).

ahhhhhh, not a four star :(

Don't worry I'll get it fixed.

Turns out I have to move the core.. :(
that means re-doing all the rails and displays
It'll take a couple of days.
really awesome love the interior and hangar doors an stuff

Yeah the hanger dockers and doors were fun to figure out.

    Thanks for the review :)
Very nice, nice respect of the original, and good power !

    Thanks for the review
I hope you enjoy using it as much as I enjoyed making it. :)
I love this ship and it works wonders. Though in the latest update, the beam arrays cause a power outage. I have no idea why, and I'd hate to stop using this ship.

Could someone explain why this is happening?

I have just posted an updated version that fixes the power problem.

    Enjoy :)

Oh, and thanks for the review. It's greatly appreciated. :)
I just tried out V3 and it's still looking good. I like how you improved the exterior details (the back of the nacelles bothered me as well). I like all the performance streamlining you did. However, for some reason the ship doesn't spawn with its main shuttlecraft.

Even though they slightly disrupt the ascetic of the ship, I appreciate the turrets. Stray torpedoes taking out the shuttles are a a pain.

These are good upgrades, well done!

Thanks for the review, as always :)

I just tried reloading the ship to make sure that the main shuttle was there. It loaded fine for me. You may want to try loading it again to see if that works.

If you still have problems. I try downloading the smet file to test it, to make sure nothing got corruped.
I've been playing with version 2.0 and it's now twice as awesome. My favorite part is the two shuttlepods and their rail system: so neat and compact. The guns perform much better, and I'm loving that the torpedoes are colored and guided (though they would have been even better as blue like quantum torpedoes on the show). The added details like the quarters furnishing are the icing on the cake.

The only issue I have is the 3 slow-to-charge jump drives. I understand that multiple drives would allow for escape jumping, but wouldn't just 2 have worked?

Over all this is my new favorite ship. Thanks for making this. :)

Thanks for the awesome review :)

It was allot of fun making those two shuttles. The rail system for those is between the main shuttle bay and the computer room. And I spent a decent amount of time getting the aesthetics right for the quarters, med bay, science labs, and transporter room. I'm really happy that it is appreciated.

There are a few bugs that need to be worked out still, I'm adding the blue torpedoes to the list. I know the defiant has both photon and quantum torpedoes but I never saw them fire the quantum ones. Also the forward airlock is backwards from the popular USD standard. I'm still looking into a better jump drive. The only reason there are three now, is because I'm using 9 jump blocks to for the "warp core" in engineering. I'm also thinking about assigning room numbers to the rooms, the same way that they do on navy ships today.
Great build of a great ship. Great RP-ready interior, and powerful too. I have only one gripe, there are no windows (in the canon of Star Trek this totally fits, however).

Thanks for the good review... :)

Yeah, no windows... I even checked pictures and stuff. you can see windows from the exterior from some shots, but all pictures I could find of the interior, there were no windows. Plus I really wanted the Armor to be as complete as possible. Glass would have screwed that up.
