I've seen a lot of "universal" docking ports but lets try and make a community effort to find out which ones are actually compatible.

Post your designs here with a similar post structure to this:

    1. [PlayerName], [DockingPortName]
    [Picture]

Here are the two types that I use:

    1. Captainredfox, 3x3 mini

    2. Captainredfox, 5x5 Standard

Please post your designs, lets make a truly universal dock!

The starmade USD. Just look at any major factions ships, its even making its way onto official content.

Okay, I see this thread was a waste. Is there a way to delete it?

    USD-1 As described here:
    https://starmadedock.net/threads/introducing-usd-type-1-updated.7305/

    Example:

Edit: Where possible, I'll actually put a ring of standard docks all the way around a port, so you can dock in any orientation needed.

    Example:
A minor correction- the current USD would be USD-2. The USD-1, although short-lived, was very much a thing. As I recall, it more resembled CaptainRedfox' second proposition, except with only one, opposing set of docker/rail. It had the slight advantage that the rail/docker couldn't be switched accidentally, as long as both pointed inwards, but was ultimately abandoned in favor of the USD-2's better space for buttons and non-existent constraints on door size.
