So i have been testing out the new beams, and i have found a few issues so far
1. The beams fire on a line parrallel to you site line, instead of aiming at the targeting reticle. this made me think they werent even firing at first since i couldnt see them.
2. Other people dont seem to be able to see the beams i am firing
3. The weapon menu does not let us change % on the new beams, or even see what the numbers are at the default state, its be nice to see my range and power transfer amount per sec
4. No icon yet, (not a real bug, just something to address)
5. The beams are hard to tell apart, maybe make the supply beam green or blue?
Sheilds do not protect from beams (works as intended)
Drain can only occur from the 2 power block types (works as intended)
Drain does not prevent regen, this leads to interesting supply/demand mechanics. If you dont seem to be able to drain a ship, either your drain gun is too small drain before their regen replaces their lost amount, or regardless of your drain amount, if their ship regens more power/sec than they can store, you will never succeed in de-powering them. (i HOPE this is how its intended to work, and yes i know regen will change soon, changing this dynamic)
A possible change that may need to be implemented is to create a "target friendly/faction" option for the AI bobby, so that power supply turrets could be mounted on supply ships. If you ever decide to implement a sheild supply/drain mechanic, the same target friendly mode would help with those types of turrets. As well as with the current astrotech beams, and whatever sort of incarnation replaces those, if any.
