The DFN recently approached me asking for peace, which I have no real issue with. But they seem to still have internal house issues that Might need to be addressed. when ranking members come to me of their own volition offering me information, well given my position as an information broker how can I refuse, and given the private nature of the conversation It would be against my personal ethics to out the supposed defector/spy. (yes ridik has ethics and rules he sticks to)
Anyway I was going to post this in the DFN thread informing them of my concern, as I had no real issue with DFN just thought debris sucked as a leader (not as a person, he is a nice guy) so now creeper god is temporarily in charge it is obviously somewhat in my interest to see DFN do well post debris leadership. but I realized I can't make this post with out sounding like a smug turd and posting all the .gif's so to avoid trashing up the DFN thread I'll post it here.
So on to the meat of the issue.
Hey there folks, I thought it might be a good idea to discuss more sensitive things here first, before releasing them to the faction. This will help reduce leaks and other things. So, to kick things of, i have three suggestions i thought i might want to pass through you first.
-A skype channel (or another instant message channel outside of starmade) This would enable us to have far more communication with our members, and get to know them a bit better
-A weekly meeting between ourselves, in which we discuss the factions future and give our weekly reports on the goings on in our respective districts.
-An intelligence/counter intelligence service, currently we dont have one, and i think it puts us at a serious disadvantage to other faction that do
outrider here makes some good points, pity they are moot considering the leadership leaks like post iceberg titanic, but maybe I can consult on the issue.
The first point having being addressed by the fact I am here posting this, the second point is good, skype is more secure thats true, and unlike mybattlecruisers later reply about not having a MIC, well you don't need one for skype, Though voice chats are harder to relay by proxy and leak. Personally I don't even let players join my faction who don't have a mic, it boggles my mind you guys allow non mic users in your leadership. but what ever not my faction.
The 3rd point, about a weekly meeting again this should be best done by mic, even if you don't have one you can listen and reply by text, people should at least have working speakers.
4. you should outsource that to professionals, or at least some more experienced players, the logs I have show a lot of people volunteering and picking names of friends out of a hat, who is qualified, who has qualifications?
"I think we need an established chain of command, with multiple permanent Level 4 Leaders of Multiple Departments. In other words everyone in this chat (Besides Debris, by the way you need to invite him in this chat). By established I mean on the faction page. I would be Head of Military Operations. Creeper as Executive Ship Builder and Co-Leader. Unnamed as Head of Finance and Recruitment. Outrider as Head of Counterintelligence and Defense. Finally Splyntr as Vice President of Military Operations (Sorry but you are going to have to be more active forum wise)." ~ Mybattlecruiserisawesome
This all just strikes me as meaningless titles for random people who happen to be liked by you, nepotism at its best I suppose. but my spies tend to be very likable so just be careful there.
creeper god went on to make good points and asserted firm command and sounded like he wished to oversee everything himself, which helps keep things locked down, it sounded good, sounded great even, but he has no way to communicate with people outside the forums, for what ever reason. this means his leadership is delayed, hell he likely won't find out about the leadership leak and this thread until half a day or more later.
"Actualy creeper i have something to say about point 1. What you suggest is that spies are the catalyst for wars, when in fact they are not. From past experience (eve) a lot of spies are used for passive spying, instead of actively awoxing or damaging a faction. Passive spying could be very handy, as it tells us when somebody plans to attack or their plans for the future. Furthermore, if the faction know that there is a spy in enemy faction A, then it can raise their moral, as they think they have an advantage over faction A." ~ outrider
This guy seems to know what he is talking about, well what ever the case, he is not wrong, dat eve player experience yo, hell even people who aren't euro-corp who defect and leak me stuff, just do it so they can feel involved in the drama and lols and not feel like it is at their expense.
anyway what ever, hope DFN gets better soon, I'll be in the background keeping an eye out as always,
