I've had this same problem on the ship I'm working on, however it's not all rails. Some rails seem to work fine while others lock up. I'm not on any server, I just build in single player. I've literally deleted the rails and the docked entity and remade them from scratch and they still don't work. I've rebooted my game as well and still no luck. Everything else works fine, if I press a button the rails swap directions like they should but the docked entities simply don't budge. I know for a fact everything's set up properly since it worked before and I've poured over it to make sure nothing came undone. There's simply no explanation for why it doesn't work, it simply doesn't work.

Edit: Just to test I just threw down a row of rails and slapped a docked entity on it and same thing happened. I literally can't use rails and I have no idea why.

Edit: Upon more testing I've found out that it's only on my ship. If I make a new ship the rails work normally. What an arbitrary bug.
I have had exactly the same problem.

completely delete block and connection metadata
Do you mean deleting the meta.smbph file?

I actually went more radical, saved a blueprint of a core, and replaced its Data folder with the Data folder of the corrupted rail BP. Mind you, this'll remove all docked entities too.

Honestly, mine just randomly started working again when I had this. So maybe if working on something else is a possibility?

By remove do you mean simply un-dock or actually delete, sorry for asking so many questions, but I'm just curious how much time I'll need to have before doing this whole thing.

I also looked at the data folder of my BP, it's got the blueprint's entity structure and if you replaced the data folder with that of a basic core, it would delete my ship? wouldn't it?

Did you mean replace the Meta.smbph file, the header.smpbh file and the logic.smbpl file?

never mind, I just used my brain ignore the previous bit.

Thank you very much! it's been fixed, all I have to do now is reattach all the docked entities from before! Thank you.

Glad it worked. Now mind you, this also removed all connections, reset all display blocks, so if that station had any logic, factories and factory enhancers, display modules, shipyard system, or anything else that required a controller block system, you need to manually reconnect those too.

I would rather have to do that again than never have my carrier again.

Last night I resumed a saved single-player game, and appeared in the core room of the ship I'd been in the evening before. I hit the button to open the rail-controlled door for the room, and nothing happened. I eventually had to chew my way out of the room. I went about my play session, accessing various other ships and all of their rail-controlled doors worked just fine. I returned to the first ship, and the rail doors still didn't work (throughout the ship.) I exited the game. I returned a little bit later, and when I loaded into the saved game the doors worked just fine.

This problem happened to me last week; all rails on my carrier have frozen up, nothing will move. They are still frozen. The server log is full of this:

I wiped out the logic meta file and spawned my ship on an empty blueprint, and the rails started working. Until the next time I loaded up the server; they've stopped again. This time, however, there were no entities docked to the ship and not a single block of logic was connected to anything.

And after a month, there is still no reply to my bug report.

Searching Starmadedock for an answer to my problem, what people describe here fit my issue.

I have station with a lot of rails for different purposes and tons of rail enhancers.
I also have a large docked entity with rail entities.
For some weird reason the station and large docked entity rails stopped working.
I tried all sorts and eventually tried undocking the large entity thinking it could be mass or enhancer related.
This allowed the rails on the station to work, but not the large docked entity. So I spawned a previous save of the large docked entity and the rail systems were working fine. I then docked it to the station and no issues. Thought it must have been the large entity corrupted somehow.

Sadly, I experienced this again. This time undocking the entity doesn't do anything. Pluse there is a difference. There is another entity docked to this large docked entity with rails and they are working fine.

At the time I got to thinking back as to what I was doing before and after.
The only thing common between the two insidence was I existed single player to jump onto a server and then came back to single player.

I've noticed doing this can affect wireless in entities I work on previous to switching from single to server to single play.

I wonder if there is something in Starmade that messes with local single play metadata.

Such a frustration having my work all broken like this.

I've tried exporting the blueprint and then bringing up a pre-build to test on and the situtation remains the same. The rails in my station are completely broken. :-(

Thought I'd add my 2 cents in case it can help the dev team.
