Start Up Failure

Hello, I've been having an issue accessing what I purchased on February 22nd of 2015 from Steam.

It seems some kind of change has occurred, something reminiscent of what Mojang had its costumers do some time ago, which was to have their costumers link their accounts with a website held by producers of the product (I would assume for security reasons).

As you can see, I have linked my account to this website. After doing so, I thought my problem would've been resolved, it persisted. From there, I assumed that it'd be necessary to download a new version of the launcher.

Above is the process I've gone through, evidently for the fifth time, with the same result of nothing changing. Same goes for launching the game through Steam:

The "Preparing to launch StarMade..." window remains for approximately 4 seconds, then disappears to no avail.

I was wondering if someone could help me fix this or point me in the direction of a refund process.

Hi there, have you tried making a ticket on the starmade - support site? (http://help.star-made.org/support/tickets/new) They should be able to help you with the issue you're having. There's also a list of common problems + solutions listed on the support site so maybe you can take a look at that too.

To me it sounds like a java issue (too outdated maybe?)

The Launcher you did download from this pages download area ... put that in a not protected folder (e.g. C:\starmade) and start it from there.
It will then want to install the game into that folder (at least it should) after that press the start game button to get to Connection Setup window for the gamesetting ... "OK" on that window should start the game.

Maybe the Steam install got corrupted on download or confused by your try to replace it with the webpage version.

If this still isnt working, take a look at the logs folder inside the starmade install and upload the log.txt.0 file (or the one with the newest date) here. (you may have to rename it to .txt)

Turns out uninstalling StarMade, updating Java, then reinstalling StarMade fixed the issue:

Awesome! I'm not sure if that first picture is from before but you should uninstall the 32 bit version, often java will force itself to use 32 bit instead of 64 which can cause some issues.
