2 days ago, my game stopped working. I start the launcher, press the Start Game button, the launcher closes, and that's it. No error message, not even a slight rattle from the HD. There are no relevant logs in the log folder (all the logs are from 2 days ago, when Starmade was still working).
It's probably something to do with either Java or Windows, because I updated both of them at the day Starmade stopped working.
I even did a fresh install of Starmade, but that didn't solve the problem.

    Windows 8.1
    Starmade 0.1867
    Java Build 1.8.0_25-b18

Nothing showing up in task manager either?

It does sound like something out of Starmade due to the fact that it still isn't working even with a clean install...

    I found the solution!
After trying everything, I reduced the Maximal Memory from 2048 to 1024, and it works now. The limit seems to be 1563 MB. At 1564 MB it refuses to launch again, but at 1563 MB it launches. Very weird, considering that I have a 64 bit OS and 8 GB of RAM.

If that is the case you are running the game most likely with 32bit Java!
The 64bit Version is not automaticaly installed and updated.
Try https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp to manualy get the 64bit Version (Language selection is lower left page corner)
THen you should be able to set higher memory values without problems
