So I can get the launcher to start, but past that nothing works . . . .

I have no error messages to show or anything, it just kills itself. I've been trying to get back into the game, used to play it religiously. Great game even thinking of starting a dedicated server.

I've been having the same issue.

So far I have reinstalled java after removing it, to be sure it was on 64 bit, then redownloaded the 1/2 Gb update to a folder in C:\ (as well as in the starmade folder, app data, fresh install every attempt)

If I find something that works, I'll be sure to pass on what I did.

After starting the game from the Launcher ... is there being a new logfile created inside the logs folder ? You can savly delete the folders content to check that before starting.
If yes ... add the created logfile here in an answer .

if not ... there should be a "launcher.log" file in the launcher directory .. add that then.

I did indeed receive a log.

Worth noting that my starmade folder that i have the launcher in is in my programfiles(x86) like the rest of the games i have, but the dir that is labled here is C:\Starmade (Due to launcher having different location for the update files)

I notice it is having issues with textures, seems to be ignoring a rather large chunk.

I am on data hotspot when I am able to work on starmade, so I try not to have to redownload anymore than necessary, but I think I may need to delete the contents of my C:\Starmade folder contents and let it redownload it. I seem to recall someone having the same issue I am, put in a support ticket and was told to make a new folder in C:/ named "Starmade" then change launcher settings to make it update to that folder. Now, he didnt mention where his starmade launcher folder was. Link to page that mentions this--> Launcher launches but game won't [SOLVED] :: StarMade General Discussions

The Texturepack warnings are fine (just pictures in the texture folder, not sure if they are even used by the game right now).

its starts to go bad here :
[2017-08-29 20:42:13] Exception in thread "main"
    [2017-08-29 20:42:13] java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/http/client/methods/HttpUriRequest

no clue however what the reason is ... i point support to it.

The "NoClassDegFoundError" is usually a side effect of insufficient permissions on the directory you are running starmade in.

It can happen by running the game directory inside a zip file and thus write operations fail. Or more common, only the file you double-clicked/executed was extracted into a temporary directory but not the other files in the archive.

    The ideal solution would be:
Download the new launcher from our site, extract it in its own dedicated directory and point it to a fresh empty directory to create an installation from scratch.

Considering total traffic is critical, it is for sure possible to save a few MB on downloading.

If you do not have the new launcher already, please download it from our site. (Click "DOWNLOADS" at the top of this page.)
Extract it in its own new directory.

If you have it already, you can skip downloading all starmade files separately, by downloading the compressed build archive.
Click here and select the .zip-file with the most recent date. (Currently: 26-Aug-2017 14:21 387M)

Download and extract this in its own new directory, and point the launcher directly to that directory.

    launcher2-build-path.png

Click the gear marked with 1. and enter the path to the directory you created in the field marked with 2. or use the browse function to navigate there.
This should skip the initial download of all files. (380MB zip archive vs 580MB downloading of the initial files separately.)

    It should now work again.
If not, please upload the logstarmade.0.log from your starmade/logs directory.

place the following command into the new launcher's Java settings in the launcher options: -Xincgc -server
