I've tried to get Starmade running on this laptop numerous times and always give up because it works fine on my desktop... but I rarely have the ability to use my desktop most weeks and I would have far more access to the game if I could get it to run (at any level of performance) here on laptop.

Starmade tells me my drivers are outdated, but when I run the Intel update program I am told there are no updates available. Any thoughts?

    Hey there, buddy!

We're in the same boat atm - and I'm afraid I've bad news for you.
The Intel products are simply not at all great for gaming; after a while you'll find that every game has its own marginal following of Intel users who experience issues/can't run the game at all.
There is little to no remedy for this; considerable amounts of Intel cards are legacy now, meaning they no longer get any updates, and even those up-to-date are largely below min specs.

The best I can do is recommend that, in your future purchases, you make sure to avoid these notebooks. Not that they are bad per se, but they're of little use to gamers.

    Cheers o7

Bruh you've been here for 3 years, you ought to know that whenever StarMade crashes it always mentions Intel drivers if it manages to drag up an error to explain the CTD regardless of what's on your PC.

Yeah, I know. I've heard legend that some Intel systems have been forced to work, so I thought I'd check. The notebook is an abandonment of my wife's I've been using as a supplemental work system and for writing. I'm a desktop guy. Cause games, in part, but mostly because of upgradability (for games).

Well, Summer is coming and I probably wouldn't be on more than the same once or twice a week I am now anyway. Maybe come fall I'll look into a better solution... I was hoping to put more time into testing the new weapons.

Though I can't run with the same setting as my desktop. I'm able to run Starmade under intel drivers. As mentioned, any crash results in a complaint about the intel drivers and mention that they should be updated(doesn't matter if they are up to date).

    CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz

Granted I'm running Linux. So it may not be a fair comparison.

Not great. Generally runs 15-30 frames per second on this laptop. I wouldn't recommend it for anything intense, but it works for building something while traveling.

Mostly I've just used it to setup mock battles to test out how my ships function in fleet vs fleet. (one system to setup each).

On the desktop (also running linux) I run at pretty much max settings(I think I leave out shadows out, but not for performance reasons). That one's a intel/nvidia system.

For one thing Mac, as I stated before, NEVER use the update software - always gets things wrong somehow. That said, the 3000 that you have only supports open GL to a certain version (cant remember which) so if thats still a thing with SM it may be a problem.

Still, heres the windows drivers listing from the intel downloads centre. They may have done some compatible "broad range" drivers since, though the last one listed is from 2015.

Maybe theres a means to run SM on a Linux dualboot or USB boot without these issues?

Edit: I see above its not great, but maybe worth a look?

I have intel graphics and the game works, but i have some graphical bugs. The game should not work on my computer but it does.
