I presume the Jack-o-lantern contest is missing from this list because your saving it for a seasonal video in October
A reasonable presumption.
I personally like the special edition chart as is. However, I do understand the appeal of a small ship chart, though I could see three charts being a bit much to maintain
I would want it separate from the Special Edition chart, as I find that as a neat way of recording entries into competition while also acting as a small incentive to participate.
Given the interest, I would continue to maintain the Special Edition Chart in addition to Large/Small Charts. My only concern was confusion between the three, moreso than difficulty of maintenance (which would be minimal).
If for whatever reason you wanted to put even more detail onto the chart you could include a mass number or a credit cost.
Not that I'll get around to this anytime soon, but I always thought it'd be cool for the chart to be hosted as a site, where you could click on each ship to see the full-res image, more information, the download, video walkthrough, etc.
For a different/similar project I maintain, I'm basically working on that concept already, so it would probably take 10+ years before I get around to it over here lol. (Although, this one would probably require significantly less work.)
It also has the benefit that If multiple people work on one ship there's a collective attribution to the design, where as having only one name on the chart might ignore someone else's contributions.
This aspect was my main concern, I have no problem listing multiple names, but I only have the ones accredited to the download page.
My main thought process behind author > factions was just better SEO with trying to find the associated ship, since factions aren't a section on the download pages. (Plus some individual players have multiple factions they assign their builds to). I suppose it depends whether people use the chart for multiplayer ship identification, or "shopping" here on the dock. I don't do much multiplayer, so I suppose I fall more to the latter category. Even if I switched from faction to author, the former would still be visible on the
full list of ships. (Which I'll consider adding mass and cost to.)
