Starmade is refusing to update/run

Starmade is refusing to update, it just stays at 0%.
I already tried the diagnostic tool and it says everything is fine, although it didn't recognize my graphics card, but I think that's fine since it supports OpenGL 4.1

What else can I do to make it run?

try again starting the browser with the --verbose option
does it fail after a while?
drag and drop the launcher.log file from the launcher install folder into an answer here.

I don't think I have a launcher.log
edit: in fact, none of my logs have been updated since mid 2016

if you dont have one .. than please replace the launcher you are using with a fresh download from the download page
