Hello and welcome to StarMade,
This preview shows of the now fully integrated block orientation logic used with stationary weapons on a Space Station.
Space Stations Progress
Block Orientation
The player is now able to select and connect any usable module externally. It was a bit tricky to get all the different camera angles working, especially on moving objects. You can now also shoot in any direction (depending on the orientation of the weapon controller) from your ship, while another player controls its thrusters. It's also possible to place stationary weapons on Space Stations.
The controls of how to place a block with orientation is not fully done however and still needs some refinement to make it more comfortable for the players.
StarMade - Space Stations Preview Part 6 - Indie DB
Performance Upgrade
More tweaks on the performance now allow huge objects to be displayed without slowing down the game by much. Some bugs were fixed when loading Segments to fully integrate the new orientation system.
Lighting Upgrade
The lighting has been improved to be more smooth throuout blocks. There will be less big differences in lighting, like one block being fully lit and the next being black.
Bugfixes
There also already is a long list of bugfixes, taking care of many problems players had in Version 0.061. I'm going to release a full list of those fixes with the release of the Space Stations update.
What comes next
As one of the most nerve wreaking aspects is done (the camera adapting to orientation), I'll now focus on replacing the deathstar bases with space stations and integrating all new feature in a user friendly way.
Thanks for playing StarMade,
