Bug Sound Effect Issue in v0.18999

    It's just one bug after another with this latest update...

    I'm experiencing a whole slew of sound issues, and toggling the Use OpenAL option does not fix them.
    Sound effects such as cannon fire and weapon strikes will play precisely five times before ceasing to play at all. For example, when I fire my handheld laser at an unshielded block a weapon strike sound effect plays. This sound effect stops playing after five shots and will not work again until I quit and restart the game.

    Docking sound effects are also completely absent. Only menu sounds and the ambient loops remain unaffected, there's definitely a sound bug here somewhere.

    Has anyone else experienced this with the latest version?

    Ok that explains the cannons and weapon strike sound effects going dead. ...Sorta.

    But what about the docking sound effects? They don't work at all.

    Sound is totaly messed up.
    i am already happy when it is not going to break the game ;)
    i would assume that will get fixed (and all the missing sound effects added) when the base game is feature complete and it moves to beta.
    otherwise he would potentialy have to fix it over and over again when changing features

    yeah, its fine, starmade had hardly any sound anyway.

    Apart from the obvious "in space, nobody can hear you scream", I'm sure proper handling of sound effects will be addressed in due time. ;)

    I certainly hope so. Taking features out of a game is never good form. Even in alpha. I do wish they would take out that annoying "space wind" sound instead. Heh.

    EDIT:
    My wish seems to have been granted. Now I wish for an ice cream and a billion dollars.

    If we're getting technical, you would hear sounds from firing your own weapons and from being hit in space if your ship had a pressurized cabin. Even if the events occurred on the outer hull, the vibrations would still reverberate through the ship and travel through the air inside as sound. If you were outside a pressurized area of the ship, you wouldn't hear a thing but you would feel vibrations if you were touching the ship.
    But I'm going off topic here.

    I'll keep an eye on the bug tracker. Thanks for keeping me informed.
