I cannot say that this is an out and out bug and I am not certain of the exact circumstances but it has happened a few times now on the multiplayer server I play on.

I think it is when a design is loaded from the designs slots rather than from within the shipyard commands (ie. Right click on a design and select load)

Essentially what happens is the design is loaded in the shipyard and you can see the hologram. You cannot edit it and get a message saying it cannot be edited when it says loading design.

Opening the shipyard shows the progress bar at about 75%. You cannot get into the shipyard menu as the option is greyed out however the pull tick still works and you can switch this on/off, change name, etc.

The only way to clear it is to exit to desktop (usually several times) or fly out of the sector until it unloads and return. The shipyard is then clear and you can try again.

This has happened when I am alone on the server or with several players, different ping levels and different designs.

I don't think it happens if you use the load design option from the menu but I think it has happened at least once but I am not sure.

    Anyone else had this?

This happened to me, and I did right-click on a design to load. I had to restart the server to fix it, though I didn't try leaving the sector (I was the only one online anyway).

Yeah, this is a known bug as Smilingdemon said.

Best option I've found is to loggoff long enough for the sector to unload then login. Usually works for me.

Seems like an old bug that has yet to be fixed.

At least I'm not the only one. I think the reason why the first time it happened was because I had a visitor at my station and despite me logging off, he was still in my sector so it remained loaded. Will just have to remember to load designs from the commands rather than the meta item and if it does happen again, maybe I will just have a little joyride out of my sector for a while and then come back and try again.

Yeah, it's a persistent bug. We have to wait for Schine on this one.

This is my work-around to get the shipyard working again.

    1) Place a block beneath the shipyard anchor to keep track of it's location, then delete the anchor.
    2) Remove all items from the shipyard computer except the design that failed to load. Delete that design; it's already corrupt.
    3) Use the replace option in advanced build mode to replace all shipyard modules with another block; such as race gate modules.
    4) Delete the shipyard computer then manually (don't use undo) replace it. Select the new computer with the "C" key
    5) Rebuild the shipyard using the replace option from step 3; replacing the 'dummy' blocks you chose with shipyard modules. Make sure to connect them to the computer (Shift + "V" on each arc).
    6) Place an anchor block in its previous location from step 2 and make sure it's connected to the computer.
    7) Connect the shipyard to any storage blocks (parts and supplies) and reactivate auto pulling.

This clears any remnants of old corrupt designs and your shipyard should work normally afterward. The process takes between 2-5 minutes depending on the size and shape of your yard and does not require a log-off or the sector to be unloaded.

    I hope this helps.
