I have not found an exact answer to this

The client is happily cranking away at 90FPS
I could be floating in the middle of noplace, does not matter where i am or what is in the sector
    this message constantly spams
Pressing F7 only gives me a nice screen showing that there is no lag or heavy load, so does F12

Is this just a temporary bug or is there some magical thing to do to make it stop?

Try allocating more memory to the game, and moving any large entities away from each other, or dock them to each other.

    game running with 64bit java
    8GB memory allocated to game
this happens by the way even at the initial spawn point, and even in empty space.
Now online, on a server, it runs perfect.
between 200 and 500 fps, game maxes at 30 to 40% cpu tops

Only thing i can figure is the server aspect of it takes a lot of PC to run
not sure if i could tweak it to fiddle around solo or not

I can play it online great

Does your game crash when this happens? Are you still able to interact ships or other entities? Does it happen shortly after an autosave attempt?

game does not crash, the message happens always as in always, from spawn til exit to desktop
it does not ever not do it
As for can i interact with things, sort of
i can get in a ship, i can fly around, i can build the ship

But docking to things may result in finding yourself far far away from the item you docked to with part of that item with you
I was building a turret, when to dock up and was 45km away in the middle of empty space
my core and the rail docker where there, and the rail pivot was there to minus its ship core, which was 45km away

Is there any logic clocks running some function in your universe? I assume this is singleplayer?

Single player and ive no idea if anything is running in the universe, i havent build a thing
as in install 100% fresh copy of game, no saved worls etc
launch game, spawn in, BLAM server is under heavy load press F7 over and over
yet the game is cranking away at 500 FPS (seems a bit high?)
I go and play it online, and not an issue what so ever

in the light that you can play Multiplayer games without problems and only get these problems when running Server and Client on your own
(thats what Singleplayer does) your limiting part here is the CPU i would assume.
as a sample here is my i5 4670K @3.4ghz running Singleplayer (and a Browser ) while in free space and doing nothing. Screenshot_1.jpg

its totally possible that your 2 Core CPU runs into problems executing the required tasks at the needed time

    id agree with that
also seems the server is too heavy for my quad core athlon II 635 3ghz
8gb ram system we usually use to
host things at home like a minecraft server. runs ok for a few minutes then maxes out all cores.

since in single player id only want to play in a single area testing ship desings, any way to tweak the server to minimal?
It doesnt need to be calculating events 20 parsecs away

you could try to start dedicated server and set the memory for that seperate to test. then connect to loacalhost.
there isnt any way to strip features from the server afaik

My triple core Athlon II gets this message all the time, but my 8-core FX never does.
