I have not seen this issue discussed on the old forums or here. So I want to ask and see if there is a solution short of regular server resets.

My server database is 36 gb...thats after a reset as recently as last month, another server I know of with more players is only 6 gb. No I do not have the double write backup going.

Anyone have similar issues? Better yet, a fix?

Over the time some files get unused by the server.
But most files are used, for example planets that have a few blocks changed are saved block-by-block.

Another cause for fast expansion of serverdatabases is importing sectors.
By script, or to 'reset' an area is worst case.

'Overwritten' entities by importing wont get removed from database. (Sometimes those ships are even shown by issueing /search commands)
You should always clean a sector before importing new stuff.
(Its just a guess in your case, but 36GB in one month is a Server with
    - 60+ normal players or
    - 25+ excessively shopping/exploring players (a whole month) or
    - auto importing sectors to spawn custom enemies/NPCs :P

In case its none of those:
please pm me the server adress, I'd like to check for possible reasons on that.
