    When you start to spam your friends with screenshots of your wip, it's time to share it online. :p

    I like to start with a picture, i'm not good enought to start something without a shape in mind. Still i build interiors and give the place for systems and rooms/halls when i design them. I'm not doing the full interior before building like some do but doing the basic shape of it. Kinda.
    Basically i've 2 things on work right now. Yeah it's better to have multiple things than only one. :D

    First off i've a space station ongoing. I started to go for a Ramiliess fort as basic shape then got in mind to do something less gothic and more sci-fi. For thoses who don't know what is a ramilies starfort, it's that :

    The station ingame does around 600 m by 600. For the moment i just did the 4 hallway in the corners and i'm stuck with that. I don't know how to do one thing and it's annoying.

    I am stuck with this. I don't know how to reach them cleanly. If someone got a idea i'll be grateful.

    On second project, i got a salvager/carrier because let's be honest, you can't design a salvager without mining drones right now, even if the IA isn't the easiest to deal with and you won't be using them. I designed one before, able to get 64 drones but wasn't happy with it. Even if the drones managed to work without bumping into asteroids, when you recalled them it was just a joke. The first encounter with pirates during salvaging decided me to get rid of this design. It's the yellow and black ship you can see in some of the screens.:p
    So let's take a new idea, a new design and go on. So i started with this idea in mind. Still getting my own touch to it and not just building the same.

    So, here i am at this point. Almost finished planning everything in my mind, put a cupple of blocs and started building. I tried first the spheric command bay but wasn't happy with the look of the glass inside. Seeing almost all of the wedges and so on is kinda boring when you try to enjoy the view.

    So i've replaced it with something more conventional.

    1: I planned there to get the escape pods, each "box" containing an escape pod above and below. Each pods getting 10 seats for crew, that'll do 120 crew for a ship around 350 metters. That's gonna be enought for a civil and automated ship. You can see the pod on the right of the numer, it's the small shutle in black and grey.
    2: It's there that i'm going to get the PD turrets. Each "box" are probably gonna have 2 PD turrets above and 2 below. I may have to put some on the tip of the ship to cover it, maybe in the back too.
    3: Idk what to do there. Maybe a sort of gun or a turret like. Could just fill it with details too.
    4: It's gonna be a spot with anti fighter turrets. Small turrets, too big to be simple PD but not big enough to be useful against ships. Probably gonna be beam-canon weapons to hunt down small vessels coming around. I'm thinking of just using the aera for a ventilation purpose. Look at it as just it'll be looking great. I feel like my ideas are more for a combat ship than just a salvager.
    5: It's my prefered planned aera. Thinking of using rails to do drawers. Each of them releasing 4 drones for each holes. You can see the drones on the picture, right below the escape pods. That mean that there will be 4x4x2=32 drones. That's maybe too much. I don't know really but they're gonna be easy to replace with the drawers. Same that drones rack.
    ?: I don't know what to do there. I was thinking about doing something for cargo pods. Still thinking about it and how. Cargo pods are using the starsquad measure : 17x9x9. :p

    Still thinking about how to do a few things. Every ideas are worth sharing. And yes, a lot of details aren't done yet, the hull is far from being over.

    Excellent!

    If you are looking for ideas for area 3, I would recommend an extendable UDS docking arm on each side that starts out retracted in the ship, but can extend out to the full width of the ship.

    I can't help but think the ship could use an observation deck that doubles (triples?) as a lounge and garden. Since it is simply just a room, it could be a docked attachment that can be detached and abandoned if necessary. Maybe located on the hollow top deck behind the bridge?

    I'm hoping you'll put a giant salvage array on the front. Can't let the drones have all the fun. :D

    Yup, giant salvage array ... Got to farm a planet or 2 before finishing it and take care of the old salvager. Only half of the array is done and i need about 50 000 modules. Probably gonna be slaved with beam to not be forced to hug things with a 400m long ship. Messed a bit with the ship today, was busy playing around with my new little toy onthe asguard french server this week end.

    Was trying to play with ice on the front when the lighning gave me something weird.
    So i decided to stick with the good old crystal front.:p
    Btw thank for the idea for the retractable usd but i already planned to place it where it is right now. Thinking about getting the back of the ship larger to keep the same size between the back and the front. I will probably change the place of the escape pods to get more space and do the observation bay there with crew quarters and so on. Pods will probably change too, i don't like them as they are.

    Put some depth on that nose! The stuff in between those prongs has GOT to have depth. It can't be a flat face, you need to bring out some tubes, some scaffold-like-work, SOMETHING, otherwise it's too abrupt. You see those fins there come back, 90* turn, flatstuff. Build up the edges so you have a recessed center, do something with it to make it three-dimensional.

    Didn't get much time to play starmade recently. Got to reduce a bit the mining array size, started to furnish the command bay to put there my computers, totally changed the back of the ship to do another one that match in size with the front. Started to add details on the hull, like this huge cooling system for the mining system.

    Aaaaaand the new engines at the back. Still same idea, they're much more sexy.

    Put in the basic 2M energy regen, some capacitors, thrusters and shields. Took the ship around the sector and tried it, he eats asteroids like they're nothing. Using the mining array eats around 4M energy per second, i have to do at least 2 docked reactors to maintain it working on good conditions. I am a total noob with docked reactors so if someone got tips i'll be grateful. I know what i need, but what quantities, how much capacity i need, how much power supply and so on.
    The next step is going to be turrets building, designing the indoor engines and the jump chain drive then it's going to be the docked reactors attached to it.

    Did a few things, mains turrets done, it's a 3 barrel canon/100%beam/50%punch. They're almost power sufficient. Almost. Started the interior, did the 4 docked reactors and the command bay look really nice right now.
    So let's present the World eater. Yes, because he eats them... Litterally.

    I really like huge hallway. Look to me like there is a lot of power coming there trought the whole ship. Not to mention that the red light is toggled with a simple button on the command bay.

    I like to be able to see the docked reactor. With the beam it's damn nice. Will need a few anti-astronauts turrets to prevent easy boarding and sabotage. Can toggle on and off the docked reactors with a button on the command bay to restart them if the server lags or simply if the logic stop in a wrong spot when you disconnect. Rail speed got set to 0 to help collision detection and lags from it. Didn't forgot the 1 jump drive on them too if they got detached. :p

    Time for updates before taking some vacations. :p

    Did a lot of work on the interior and finished the side turrets. I really like their design and i'll probably use them later somewhere but they aren't really usefull as they are. Bad fire arc and low range weaponry. By the way, now i just need to find, and be sure with myself, some spots for the PD turrets and i'll be done with turrets.

    I definitely love them. They look like they're gonna throw something at the ennemy, like a railgun.
    Then a new pic of the command bay. The top is mostly done, just need the computers when i'll be adding weapons and effects and i don't know what to do below it. Maybe servers thingy or something like that.

    That tiny turret looks nearly identical to my PD turrets! Great work!

    Ayyyyy back from holiday. Took me a bit of time to make up for the lost time but i did it.
    My gf's did a few drawings so here is the result. Mostly a tanky and annoying fighter with emp effect on his beam. The turret bellow is set to destroy missiles but with 3 barrels it can be useful against small vessels.
    Will go back to the world eater later, i need to finish it before designing a few vertical combat ships. Thinking about a smaller fighter and a destroyer/cruiser.

    Really bored of the big ship right now so i decided to start a smaller one. My last combat ship has been build before the armor and hp update so i definitely need new ones. I'm not taking a picture as example so i'm proceeding differently than usual.
    Just teasing the beginning. Do not take care of the thrusters and power reactors, they're just here to move this skeleton.

    Okay, time for some updates. Finally i'm starting to see the end of the big salvager ! Yay ! o/
    Mostly interior, i just removed the docked reactors to put in some of the new bloc and i finished the whole logic system for the escape pods now it's just filling time !

    Each box contain 4 escape pods. Each of them retract independently and fully controlled with logic. This mean when the pods are taken back, they retract inside the ship and when someone press the button they're lauched. If the 4 buttons (for the 4 pods) are pressed they're launched immedialty, if one button is pressed then there will be some time to wait before.

    I'm proud of the reactor room inside. The small crystal is emitting a beam toward the bigger one outside. The logic can be toggled on or off with the wireless bloc that you can see here. Really like the command bay above.

    Okay so i took the salvager to mine a bit and try if the auxiliary reactor were good, disconnected during the mining sessions, went back and then a few docked entities were missing. Well, probably because the game was lagging and didn't saved it properly. No big deal, each of the differents and big entities on the ship have been saved separately, except for doors and elevators. :p
    It still annoyed me a bit so i decided to put it aside and go for my smaller ongoing project.

    The interior is done, beds for 24 crew members and one captain chamber, bathroom and cafeteria. There is two escape pods and a "engine room" for the jump drive system, i like to be able to see the system. The RP interior is mainly in the front and will be useful as baffled armor, it has been made in basic hull to give more armor hp when the exterior of the ship will get some advanced armor.
    Almost 2M energy regen (1.8) and 10M storage, the ship is ready to get the hull, armour plates, weapons and shields. I mainly designed it to be resilient, cheap and deadly in group against bigger ship who cannot maneuver as easily as this one.

    Just passing by to show him. Almost finished, need a few tests against other ships of this size before he's completely done. So yeah, see you soon for the completely done and ready to kick some pirates, Grox class destroyer. EDIT : Not a destroyer, an escorter. I was sure but i inverted the two classifications. Shame on me.

    Back from my test world. I'm really happy with the design, pretty solid. Even if i'm not really happy with weapons. Fine with missiles the problem is the two main guns, i tried to do two different guns, a full ion supported cannon and a full supported piercing. The idea is to take down fast the ennemy auxiliary power, knowing their role is to hunt down bigger ship, but you end up switching constantly between weapons to deal damage and it's really annoying, otherwise if you don't use the correct weapon at the right time you'll deal no damage at all. Well, i guess in groups when you're coordinated this wouldn't be a problem because you could be ready with missiles to take down again the shield for another 10 sec.
    The layered hull isn't useful at all except maybe with 20 or more blocks of hull to take damage so i'll keep it to lower the HP penalty but that's the only reason why i'm doing so.

    The pirate one. Was using it's cannon until it overheated. As we can see thrusts and power are almost not touched. Happy that the concept made it really reliable to hits. I tested the ship to a few others that got more mass, basically it was just turning around him faster than he could, take the shield down and then destroy it. Turrets aren't a big deal, except maybe on really big ships but it's a totally different size.

    So except a few details that need polishing and a IA version the Grox class escort is joining the fleet.

    Okay, took a little break from building in starmade so it's time to get back. Trying sketchfab and some design for drones, next ship is probably gonna be a heavy fighter and then a carrier or a support ship. I don't know which one i'll do first.


    6 rapid fire missiles and one strong cannon, basically a support drone for big ships.

    Did some work, got a new fighter to add to the fleet and this one got beams weapons, i'll put them on the dock later. Tried a few things i wished to do, ready to go for a vertical cruiser. Yeah, i might have a thing for vertical ships. Sadly i don't have any idea about a vertical carrier and the idea i got in mind for the corvette would look ugly on a vertical ship. Sad panda, i can't get my vertical fleet.

    Oooookay.

    So small update before i disapear trying to build some serious things. First, the Grox class escort got his little rework i wished to do. So here he is ! The Pahtish drone and Spearhead fighter got uploaded too on the dock. If there is anything else on the bluprints let me know.
    And there, the sketchfab for the big guy.

    The back of the ship is mostly finished, sides won't use that much time in details as there will be mostly turrets. Currently trying to find good design/shapes that i like for them and then i'll build again. Also i'm not entirely sure about what kind of weapons i should use for the turrets. I started the interior too with that small hangar and escape pods at the back.
