      Red Shift no longer exists as of 2015. We gave up for a multitude of reasons... See here for details...

      We are Red Shift!


      We are the leading server for StarMade and continue to bring new features and better stability to our server!

      For almost exactly 1 year we have been one of the top servers and have been #1 for several months now! We have a large friendly community and one of the most heavily populated servers in StarMade!


      Interesting facts about us:
      • We frequently have the highest average players and have been the #1 server for over 6 months!
      • We have one of the largest sets of in game help commands through the chat system!
      • We are one of a few to have warp gates to allow for faster travel around the universe! Over 12,000 total!
      • We are the only server to frequently run full automated cleans of the entire universe to reduce load and lag!
      • Our spawn is protected in a 3x3x3 block around 2, 2, 2 to allow for a comfortable starting area for new players.
      • We are a PVP server and do allow all forms of PVP but do not allow griefing or spawn camping.
      • We also have custom mobs and even player spawnable mobs!

      We provide a active and fun Mumble voice chat free for all players on the server! Admins are required to have it and are almost always in it while they're online! Feel free to stop in if you have any comments or questions! All our voice chat info can be found either on our website red-shift.org or in game by typing '!mumble' in your chat box!

      Our in game chat command system offers many useful features and we're adding new ones as necessary! It provides basic things like replacement helmet, laser, and log books all the way to running our warp gate system, bounties, banking system and server restarts!

      I heard that there is a horribly low mass limit enforced on this server. Is this true? If so it would keep me from coming and establishing an outpost on this server.

      Depends what you think is horribly low? They're not low compared to a lot of what I've seen but the game's in alpha and it tends to have problems with lots of larger ships.

      We are changing several things on the server today inline with the universe cleanup!

      These include:
      1. We have raised the ship block limit to 2 million!
      2. We have raised catalog slots to 25 (This is following the change by Schema to allow to default blueprints to private!)
      3. We have raised the starting credits to 25 million!
      4. We have made some other various changes to the server config!
      5. We have added some new features in the chat commands!
      New chat command features include:
      1. New bank system with no credit limit to allow for off character credit storage (No need for l5 ores to store personal wealth!)
      2. Updated the bounty system to work with the banking system!
      We will be extending these systems further over the coming days!

      We are starting a week long overhaul of the server!

      We have changed a few things on the server today including:
      1. We raised the maximum speed limit to 200km/h (400km/h with overdrive)
      2. We have raised the advanced build placement size to 16 x 16 x 16!
      3. We have made a few other changes to the config and the management system to improve load times, lag on the server
      Tomorrow (Wednesday 8/6) we will be doing a full universe aggressive clean of the server! This means that anything that is neither a faction home base station/planet or a ship docked to one of those two will be removed! This will force planets to regenerate to allow for more mining and new places to build! If for some reason a ship/station that you owned get's removed by accident we will re-import them, just let an admin know!

      Thanks for all the continued support as we try to make this one of the best experiences in StarMade!

      Is there anywhere I can find a full rules list for this server? The website isn't very descriptive on all of the rules, I noticed some rules on the spawn station that aren't present - labeling your station for example. I'm quite far away from the initial spawn to fly back just to read one sign.

      For example on clarification: what is build block harvesting a planet - strip mining? Taking huge chunks out of the planet? What is acceptable mining of a planet? What does "tie to a shop" mean?

      When you place a building block on a planet, you can use the building-mode to mine the planet in chunks of 10x10x10.
      The rules are made so you use actual mining lasers to stripmine a planet.

      "do not tie anything to a shop" means you do not make a 'chain' out of blocks to stick your ship to a shop/existing static structure.
      Like chaining your bike to a lamppost.
      This will cause physics-collisions and lag the server everytime someone bumps into your ship.

      I appear to have several questions. I've already been playing on Red Shift (and have donated), but there is MUCH that has not been said about this server, such as changes to distances, including weapon ranges.

      Have the required percentages of blocks required for maximum defensive 'effects' been reduced?

      What is the shield recovery in combat rate?

      What has the TURNING_DIMENSION_SCALE been set at? I have the impression it has been scaled down.

      Is there any particular reason the advanced build placement size was not set to 64 instead of 16?

      What is the AI difficulty set at? The HUGE increase in speed gives point defense virtually no time to engage missiles, and with those 'Venom' pirates engaging at ranges of 14K, point defense is all the more necessary. If the AI difficulty is set at 'evil', maybe the increased accuracy distance will at least give point defense a chance.

      Are the stats for the custom pirates ships being used on Red Shift available to view anywhere? I am specifically interested in the 'Venom' ships that seem to be the terror.

      Wonderful server, been playing here for about 3 weeks to a month. Its really active even outside European primetime theres 30+ people on and the community is really nice :)

      according a friend, the server had serious issues after they bought a more powerful computer host. In the end it seems they closed up shop due to those complications.

      Unwilling, more like. Most of everything I've heard has pointed to them giving up because they weren't turning a profit from running the server.
