TL;DR: The current updater needs serious work to reduce download size and load on mirror hosters.
I appreciate that the game is getting attention and is sucessfull, but the updater is terrible for mirror hosters. What it currently does is download the whole game for every update and not what has changed. I offered to fix this a half year ago and recieved a generic response, which one could interpret as a no. My contact person then was Burnjack.
And since then I haven't heard anything from the Project. No e-mail about new versions to be uploaded so that I could prepare the servers for heavy load, no e-mail contact about anything else. Nothing. This is bad practice, to say the least.
I already added ratelimiting to the mirror I host to prevent other mirrors from having not enough traffic and cancelling the uploads/downloads. I hope you understand.

To elaborate on why this is bad:
As you can see, the downloads never really stop. I don't know why, but they don't. If you add all the downloads together you get 1.062 terabyte/TiBi just used by StarMade alone.
