In the event that planets became valuable resources to fight over, I have developed a cool strategy to defend them that utterly prevent the planet from being fire upon while still letting players through. The power of the plex door. If you had the time, as we all do, (have you seen the screenshot awesome section!?) you could create a dome of plex doors around the planet, and hook it up to shields and whatnot. Plex doors, when in open mode, allows players to pass through but not amc cannons or missiles or whatever. So if planets do became useful, and people do use this method to defend them, it will force attacking factions to airdrop droppods and vehicles down onto the surface, as larger ships would be too cumbersome to effectively attack through the plex shield. Hell, you could even close the door to screw people. With proper defences, and even a fleet, it would prevent the opposing faction from sticking around too long, forcing them to just drop and go. Maybe even planets could have an infinite power source at the core, streamlining planet defence, just hooking up shield generators and turrets to the core. Maybe Planets could have a use in generating blocks to build with or something cool like that. Any other ideas for planetary defence/attack and planet usefullness?
