hey i'd like to ask if there's anyone else that's experiencing an massive performance drop as of patch .19431

I used to get a fps of about 60-70 ish while working on my station which was roughly 30,000 block or so total. and an fps of 200+ in void space. but now it's struggling to get 20 fps for my station and 30-40 in void (no other entities around).

at first it thought it was because i wasn't allocating enough RAM because of the size of the station, but that doesn't seem to be the case. and i haven't changed my graphics setting. i GUESS it's still playable but it's rather annoying that i used to get well above 60 and not it's dropped like a rock. that and now i can't host a local server for my friends to join with out getting a fps below 10.

Also does anyone else have trouble with Wireless modules spontaneously disconnecting? i have a pretty intricate rail system set up and there are a couple sections that really rely on the wireless modules. twice i've had to reconnect all of my wireless modules after a mishap in the rails.

Lastly i've had this bug for a while now but basically when i enter the map the game treats the system i'm in as "selected" instead of the sector. meaning in the map i can't see what's inside the system without moving the camera directly in to the system. also fps of 11

    Please add
a Logfile (log.txt.0) from one of those low FPS game sessions (better make a new one that isnt that big)
    settings.cfg from the starmade folder
and graphcisinfo.txt from the logs folder

Kinda surprised you found this so quickly. i only just found ur debug page and skimmed through it. Hope i got the right log files, i wasn't sure.
from my understanding you guys think it's mostly a problem with older cards running OpenGL 3.something and older?
in which case it is more than likely my config's won't be much help

I'm running a old Nvidia GTX 275, and i know ur prob gonna tell me "maybe you should lower some of ur graphics settings" and ur probably right but i can't stand the lighting effects they way they are now.

Also yes, i did update my driver, and tried the "force update and repair" in the starmade 1st launcher. didn't help, in fact now starmade won't even load for me! x.x it just crashes at 94% from the first load screen.

    EDIT:
I did another force repair, now the game works again, but is still super low fps

and it did work before the forced update ? then i assume some files got corrupted in the new download :/

and yes .. the white box in the galaxy map is a Nvidia problem ... it isnt happening on the latest nvidia cards and Schema isnt affected and cant reproduce it (afaik) . so he is trying different things blindly to fix that problem.
a gtx275 should be able to run a 30K block station in space without breaking a sweat.

you could see if procedural background set to of has a significant impact on the FPS (or at least lower it to 1024)
also 128 texture pack instead of 256 is worth testing to see if that has an impact (because of the new texture effects in the latest update, dont know if that has a big impact)
thats all what i can see from the settings in a first glance that i think is worth trying.

is the included log file from the 94% crash ?

    it contains
[2015-09-10 11:47:11] [RESOURCE] Loading cube textures

you could grab the whole game here : http://files.star-made.org/build/starmade-build_20150907_154125.zip
just extract it to your starmade folder and overwrite it if you think i could be possible to be a messed up game file (did happen with steam in the past afaik)

looks like running out of memory . did you maybe reset your memory settings in the Launcher somehow ?

You could download the whole game here:
    http://files.star-made.org/build/starmade-build_20150907_154125.zip

just overwrite the install with the Zip content in case a file corruption is suspected. (did happen in the past especialy with steam afaik)

I checked the Memory settings and it's still set to 4096max, 2048 inital and 1024early gen.

not sure if i happened to send you the log file from the forced update, frankly i don't remember exactly if i tried the force update before or after sending u the logs.

i can send you my log.txt.0 again if u'd like

    Edit:

Changing the Procedural Background res to 1024 helped with performance! looking as solid 50-70 fps at my station thank you!

Hope you guys figure out that map bug though, and hoped my config files helped att to the pool of data!

Thanks for you help. but you wouldn't happen to know anything about wireless modules randomly disconnecting would you?

    [bump for disconnecting wireless]

It must have something to do with the sector loading, working on a massive station in a private community server and the internal buttons on various elevators and other moving parts are disconnecting all the time with no rhyme or reason. ..it really defeats the purpose of having them.
