Bug NullPointerException: null

    As I load the game up, it crashes at 50% and the error message above comes up. I click retry many times and the game continues to load up. After this i have successfully joined a server with the error still popping up, as i spawn my character the error message comes up again and i try to click the retry button once again at which point, the game the then crashes and exits. This happens every time i tried to launch StarMade. I have tried the following as suggested: updating Intel drivers, uninstalling all internet securities, re installing the game and launcher, clearing the cache and previous worlds, but still nothing has seemed to work.

    Processor: Intel Core i3-2100 CPU 3.14GHz
    RAM: 4GB
    Graphics: Intel(R) HD Graphics

    unlikely, and if that is so, it would be a second issue in addition to the corrupted installation.
    The SAXParseException, that occurrs, implies one of the xml documents is corrupted, and in this case, it looks like a model is corrupted, and since models are clientside only, the server's host has nothing to do with that.

    Is this solved by now? did a forced download and reinstall fixed it? and if yes is it working without graphic glitches on the Intel GPU (if yes again what OS is running?)

    He is running Windows 7 64bit. We just tried to force download and reinstall but it did not fix it. How may we go about fixing this issue with the corrupt installation

    Is this by chance a install through Steam ?
    If so, please use the download button on this page to reinstall the whole thing to a new directory. (just put the Starter into a new directory and start it there)
    I have been told by people that they had problems to install from Steam :/

    after you did install run the game once to generate setting.cfg. open that file with a notepad and chnage "G_USE_VBO_MAP" to "false"

    also "Driver Version: 9.17.10.2932" looks pretty outdated. I cant check this myself because the intel page is not responding for me right now

    I just got a similar error, except it only crashes when I try to enter the weapons screen in a ship one of my ships. It reads "NullPointerException: Exception: REQUESTED TYPE 0 IS NULL". This only seems to happen on one of my ships. I can't think of anything I did different with this ship except for use copy/paste a lot. I'm using version v0.1917.

    No .. your problem sounds like a corrupted ship file of some sorts.
    Messed up Meta data of the ship maybe.
    Are you able to spawn in an older Version of that ship and continue from there?
    If you build something bigger, always take blueprints from time to time.

    That's the result of what some of us call a "phantom link". It happens if you right-click remove a computer that was linked to a master. That way the linkage isn't properly cleaned, leaving a "linked" computer but it's gone. Normally this doesn't give a problem unless you place another computer on that exact same spot.

    In order to get rid of that exception, just find the computer on your ship that is on that phantom link. Save the ship, load a new one, remove a bunch of computers and check your weapons screen, keep trying till you tracked it down and then only remove that one :)

    This bug report has some more info about it http://bugs.star-made.org/issues/1531 although it might be a little bit outdated.

    Thanks, guys. I tried the stuff you said, but still no help. I just had to rebuild it entirely. It wasn't that big though, so not that big of a deal. At least I know what to watch out for now. Any idea if this will be fixed anytime soon?
