No Emmisive Maps

As I understand it, emmisive textures creates parts of the block that emit light in dark enviroments, however my blocks don't glow. Is there a texture that needs to be turned on? If it is an obvious option like emmisive textures on/off than I would have seen it. Im away from my computer Atm so I can't remember if there is an option for it. Is there something in the config that controls it? Or is it just a bug?

This happens when I turn that on.

Edit: When I go onto a server it doesn't have that bug, so for now its good, the normal maps worked thanks.
