Next major update speculation thread! (0.174/175/whatever)

    If the universe revamp makes it in before the station contest is over I'll be surprised. That seems like something you'd want to release at the same time. It also sounds like some of the stations that were submitted are missing turrets/other details so I wouldn't be surprised that after the contest there was a short period for the builders to make final adjustments.

    Turret revamp is very sorely needed. As they stand right now turrets are barely functional; they need a bit "more" to actually be useful. The missile targeting system is a godsend but the other turret settings... ech.

    Actually, I believe this was only the fourth time. But yes, it indeed is strange that the devs haven't replied to that massive thread. Maybe they just want to keep things a surprise?
    Are you actually keeping track >_> you're more impressive than I thought.

    Anyway, my speculation is that they're going to finish the universe, then the AI and factions, which will take around 3~5 months. Then maybe they'll start working on fixing planet lag or something.

    For those of you interested in how salvaging will work, I have the feeling it will have something to do with this:

    I have no inside track so I don't know what they WILL do, but here's what I'd like to see in the near future:
    • Station Blueprints - Using admin commands to do this feels like cheating to me.
    • The ability to set waypoints by clicking on things in the map screen.
    • Refined login positions - I cross my fingers every time I start up StarMade. I've had to spacewalk as far as 1200m to get to my ship.
    Here are some things that I'm excited to see at some point:
    • Hyperdrive - Their description of this sounds scary, but intriguing.
    • NPC Crews - I hired one, but they seem to have a hard time staying in the ship. I exiled them to Ceti-Alpha 5 until that's fixed.
    • Rideable space whales - with hyperdrive?
    • Universe redesign of course will be awesome.
    Things I hope that they do:
    • I'd love to step into a warp gate on foot and step out at another one (at the gate, not in empty space).
    • Populate the NPC stations (shops and whatnot) with NPCs - just to make them feel more alive.
    • At some point it would be neat if there were indigenous peoples on some planets - maybe even hostile natives!
    • Massive asteroids (maybe a rare occurrence) and huge belts of tiny ones.
