New Features in Dev 0.1703 [MF Live]

    More use for point defense weapons, I am ok with that... So are missiles getting a buff too? Are they going down the route of "these things will hurt you if you dont deal with them"? Do missiles from bigger arrays have more hitpoints then smaller ones?

    X damage = X amount of hits that can be received would work up to a max of X (10?)
    Throw 10 or so of those at somebody in mid-short range and you're going to get most of them through..

    All the same this means there will actually be an objective in ship on ship combat besides slamming somebody until you hit the core:
    If you want to use your missiles either you or your friends will need to take out the point defense turrets.

    I really hope that missiles will have hp based on their type or power.

    Whilst point defense brings an amazing new mechanic to the game, considering what I've seen with past "amazing new mechanics", I'm scared that it'll be implemented in some silly way - like all missiles have the same health.

    If that is the case on release, long range homing missiles will be obsolete (i mean literally useless in ship to ship combat), as will all other types except for the heat seeking swarms. Every missile boat will have to fire an obscene amount of swarm missiles to compensate for flak fire - the more likely scenario is that missiles simply wont be used at all. So please devs if you read this, think VERY carefully about how you want to actually implement this feature.

    I'm all for the change, but only time will tell if it enhances combat or ruins it.

    It would be :cool: if missiles jitter around (not fly a straight line, but jitter around the point they should be if they were a normal missile) and try to hit the target synchronous from different angles (like if you would have thrown a net where each node is a missile).


    I partially like each missile equal or a square root of damage as hp. Diminishing returns !!!

    Missiles could be used if you can disable the enemy weapons for a short time or against fighters.

    Dumb fire missiles could have more hp.
