I understand that this may seem minuscule for some, but at times I'd like to have a bigger selection of colors to work with when constructing ships. (i.e. not using brown as a substitute for orange)

Like I said before, it may seem minuscule to some. But, what I was referring to was mainly more shades. For example: light gray and dark gray, light and dark green, etc. Mainly for the more savvy ship builders.

I think more hull colors would be cool. But if the game doesn't provide a color you want, mods are a great alternative. I'm working on one that has the rest of the major colors added (cyan, maroon, etc). Just a thought :).

Plus now that mods are being made, adding said features into the game would render those mods useless (the curse of a modder I suppose). i.e hazard hulls in the immersive blocks mod...

    I think it's fine.

We only need some overlays to make hull look dirty/clean, etc. More like a darkening-layer or separation of texture+color for ALL hull textures, or texture packs will get too big too.

I want to see a better way to detail your interior instead.

Oh, forgot. Orange would be nice, but I think black/white/grey/((brown/pink)) and all primary/secondary colors are enough. We don't need colors in-between primary and secondary too.

It can't be made so every color(colour) can be used(this is according to the Q/A stream)...

They could add a color slider like the one in Space Engineers (I said a bad word ). That way, every color is available. ^^

It's your graphics memory to use. Letting color be adjusted would mean 4x the memory in graphics if I remember the Q&A correctly. Now, as a mod that might be possible, just that your ships would look awful when you view them without the mod.

Yeah, I'm not one for technobabble. Was a good idea though!

They could make more blocks with static colors though, that wouldn't increase the ram required for each block. So besides Orange are we missing anything? I know varying shades would be great but it's not a deal breaker not having it.

Maybe it could work with more performance using indexed colors per ship.

You could use a slider to adjust 16 colors for your ship or have 12 default colors + 4 adjustable colors.
But I don't know how much work it is to implement this.

Bumping because I WAS going to make a thread on this but found one.

I think we need orange, pink, cyan, and light and dark grey.

    Orange hull is confirmed.
Yellow Hazard stripes on black hull are currently in the dev build.
Green hazard stripes on white hull are currently in the dev build.

The game will not use RGB sliders because of massive performance implications (see Q&A no.1).

Green on green? How does that work?

Anyway in reply to you OP Syleiel I've wanted more coloured hull and colours for lights since old forums, so agree. Shame about the RGB slider though, if I was a billionaire I'd distribute 15 4670k's to people so we could have them.
