Hi,
I see two other threads relating to turbo lifts, one being the gravity based system. Which is nice and quick, but doesn't allow for a lift car.
Turbo lift system.
Turbolift/Ziptube, Still want them and why I think they are a good Idea
I've been wanting to build a turbo lift for a while now. With the introduction of rails, I have muddled over ideas on and off. The small area in the lift was a problem for controls, so the only logical way for me would be a binary selector system.
So, recently I've been working on a large ship design and realised I should work on making a viable turbo lift for it. And after several ideas and concepts on paper, I pretty much came to the conclusion that it's going to have to work with a little bit of illusion.
What I do is have a rail track moving up and down to provide me the 3D movement. Sadly, this comes at the cost of connectivity with the interior of the ship. Something I can live with. The other thing is, it's not as quick as the gravity system.
Here's a video of my recent work.
You can see the illusion in operation with my earlier slabs experiments videos.
