Lost world after update/how to import world

I had not played the game since either March or May and I decided to get back on and I made the mistake of doing the update before playing the version I was on or exporting my ships. I have basically spent over 10 hours reading and searching this forum on how to fix it and I am completely incompetent as I believe i have done nothing but make things worse. I play this game to get away from the stress of everyday life and now all it has done is make it worse.
I am able to load a new world. I have tried deleting
chatchannels.tag
FLOATING_ITEMS_ARCHIVE.ent
FLOATING_ITEMS_ARCHIVE.ent.old
SIMULATION_STATE.sim
uniquePlayerCount
version
and going back to my previous update 19592

I am asking for someone to please walk me through this. Thank you.

I've never had an update delete my worlds or blueprints. Is it possible that when you updated, you actually installed to a new location?
Try searching your computer for folders named "blueprints" and "server-database", as that is where your stuff is saved.

I guess I did. I tried for a month to get my old world to load. I can see the files on my computer but I am just not smart enough to get it to be the world that loads. Pretty much ruined my love for the game but it is my fault for not being smart enough to work through the bugs

Are you able to create a new world and start that one ?
if yes get us the logstarmade.0 logfile from after trying to start the broken world

I was able to open a new world after downloading the updated launcher. SmilingDemon you are going to have to hold my hand and tell me how to do that step by step please

Start Starmade
Choose the broken world in the local games
start and crash that one
then go to your starmade install path and take a look at the logs folder
there should be a logstarmade.0.log file with the current time of the crash
drag and drop that file into a posting here

it never crashed though, after I did the new chunk update my world was gone and it just started a new world. I can see the files of my old world in my starmade folder but do not know how to import it.
Where do I find the install path?

My bad .. misunderstanding on my part.
Your game is installed here (check on your own launcher for the Path)

make sure the world you want to play is in that paths "server-database" folder as a sub folder

Well I tried that, still just launches me into a new universe, And deleted the new one I was messing around in.
Should I unzip in a new folder the last backup of my old universe and try to load that? Im sorry I am so pathetic

where exactly did you put the universe folder then ?
it did not show up as an selecteble option in the local game list then ?
maybe upload it somewhere and pm me the link to it and i will see if it is broken or missing parts for me too.

I do not know how to explain it. My world was called the standard world0. I had not played for a couple months and then when I came back to play the new chunk update was available. I did the update and I was never able to load my original world again. I have a regular backup and I have the backup that the chunk update did. I can see my ships in ENT file format in the folder but I do not understand how to load it. I tried doing the installation directory for the chunk file and several other but it just loads a brand new world everytime. I am not smart enough to explain it better or even how to upload a file to you.

Ok then ... get the backup zip file of your world
open it and copy the folder named world0 (i do assume you didnt rename it before) to the desktop.
rename that folder to something else (lets say oldworld)
then move that folder to the install paths sub folder server-database (there should be a world0 folder in there)
now start the game go to local play and two worlds should show up ... select oldworld and then play

Did all that and it just keeps starting a new world every time. I even made several new worlds with different names so I could find where they were being stored as I am getting more and more folders of worlds and I cannot get them to reload either. I am sorry for wasting your time

last thing that comes to mind then is virus protection /security suites that interfere with Starmade.
if you are using a tool like that disable it and try to load a world and see if you can access the same world again after that.

if this isnt working either i am out of ideas. you may have to ask someone to take a look at the PC directly then maybe to see why all the usual procedures are not working.

Ok so I am still trying. This is what I see happening. I have the folder with the worlds I have open so I can watch it. I open the starmade launcher and go to the installation directory and browse until I find that folder and then I click save and then the start button changes to update. What i see happening is it makes a new starmade folder in the folder of my worlds. I will try and upload a screenshot of it later today. I hope what I am doing wrong is a simple mistake.

woo hoo! I figured it out. Thank you for heading me in the right direction. My only problem now is I have a million extra starmade folders and files all over the place i need to try and clean up without deleting my new progress.
