Simple answer - 10 dollar steam wallet pre-paid card.

    ---

now this might seem very obvious to many of you but i spent about a year now wanting to purchase starmade but not knowing how to do so because i dont have access to a credit card. iv also asked many times fellow SM players if they knew of anyway of getting around the credit card obstacle but to no avail.

Turns out the popular steam software which starmade launched on last year sells prepaid steam wallet cards that you should be able to purchase in your local gamestore with physical cash. you then scratch the card to reveal a code that you then enter into your steam account and it will credit you with the appropiate amount of cash into your steam account. you can then go and purchase starmade (or anything else on steam really) without ever having to use a credit card in the process.

hopefully this seemingly obvious but maybe not so obvious solution will help others in a similar situation as mine, finally purchase one of their favorite games. im only just discovering steam and i can see now why starmade launched on it. and sorry if this sounds like an ad for steam but as far as im aware its the only current way to purchase starmade without a credit card.

I thought this was common knowledge by now. Steam cash cards or a pre-paid visa card.

like i said, im sure to many of you it is. but iv asked many people (most of who use steam) and i guess they either didn't know or forgot because they never mentioned the prepaid cards. (im assuming because they probably use credit cards in the first place) and also steam may not be as popular in countries out side the US. so im assuming theres probably a lot of players (like me) who don't even know what steam is.

It has a full free version you know. o_O
but that wont always be the case. once it gets out of alpha/beta the full version wont be free and the base price will increase. also purchasing helps support the developers :)

I just used my debit card - a bank card tied to your savings, not credit, for use online.

    This.

I fail to comprehend why so many people don't have a debit card or any way to spend money online.

Iirc, European debit cards do not have credit backing like they do in the US. It might even be a purely American thing. Also, pre-paid credit cards are also a rarity outside the US.
I'm actually surprised the steam card was available.

It may be bank or region-dependant thing but certainly it is not overall-European. One or two of my acquaintances buying crap using their debit cards being a proof.

Online banking is possible using european debit cards, but [at least from my experience] it isn't included by default but has to be ordered in addition to the card.

Maybe that'll answer your question? :P

I got my debit card at 16 - It's a standard here in Aussieland. I guess it's compensation for having everything trying to kill you.
