Happy New Year 2015 folks! Unless of course all that relativity stuff is true. In which case, with all of us flying around the universe at high velocity that we do, that probably happened 30 years ago. In which case, Happy New Year 2050 folks!

happy new years to everyone! may 2015 be even more epic than 2014!

wow, really funny that you say that, as i had a whole 30 mins conversation about exactly that last night before the new years count down! it really makes me wonder if maybe things like the age of the universe or our planet might be off because of relativistic effects like that. and wtf is "speed" any way. if you were in a totally empty void, youd have no idea if you were stationary or going 99.99999% the speed of light. as i understand it theres no experiment other then observing nearby "relative" objects to judge your speed. and even then you only judging it by your proximity to said object. the whole thing really blows my mind and keeps me up at night sometimes.... :D

I recommend reading the xkcd comic to put things in perspective and to find even more humor in this stuff. (Warning: There can be some salty stuff.)

All speed is measured according to a point of reference. Normally, we use the Earth as our point of reference. However, according to the Sun and even to the center of the galaxy, even the Earth is moving. And in reference to something else, our galaxy has its own speed.

However, no matter the point of reference, always remember this important concept:

    RAMMING SPEED!
