Can someone give me some idea of what the graphics settings mean? I built a fairly large (but not gigantic) mining ship and when I move towards an asteroid or planet to starting mining operations the planet does not render and the asteroids are just a waypoint marker in space until I move around and it finally renders... I have an NVIDIA GPU in a Dell gaming laptop. Thanks.

The graphics settings allow you to customize what's being rendered allowing you to save on performance if you want to reduce lag, or make thing prettier if your machine can handle it. What you were describing with the asteroids sounds like a chunk load thing. If I'm right you were moving from the asteroids causing them to disappear/unload. If you want to see them at a further range you can increase the draw distance in the advanced graphics tab

What I did that helped me a lot with this problem was using the default "Medium"Graphics settings and then fine tuning anything particularly that I wanted like Turn on Bloom and removing shadows...

PS: I have an Radeon RX480, but I believe my problem is my old Intel first gen core i5-750...
