    Hi all!

Only been playing for a week and having lots of fun. Been going out carving up planets for resources but I figure I should probably set up a factory. Any idea what station I could download from here that would make a perfect factory floor?

There's so many to choose from and the creators don't always say how much floor space there is :)

Why not just make your own? It is really easy. You just need factories, power blocks, a million credits and a building material. To make your factory invincible (watch out! This will change!), you just need a faction module and your own faction (you can creat one for free), place the faction module on the station, press 'enter faction signature', then press 'make faction home' (press 'R' on the faction block for the UI).

I recommend looking in the recent "Space Station Contest" thread. It is named something like "Closed Contest: Default Station Submission" or something like that. It should be located under the "Contests" forum. The thread is about 6 weeks old now. The contest is closed, but there are 50 pages of new stations and discussion about them. There are many different types of stations now available. A few of the builders will describe internal features. Look for trading stations. They will typically have a lot of room. More detail in the design suggests a bigger size, and some of them talk about internal space and if you are lucky, you might find some internal screenshots, showing the internal spaces. Definitely try to look for open floorspace. You'll want plenty of room to try out different configurations and assembly lines.

TY both funnybunny and jaman for your comments, think I'll try that thread first. I can always query the builder to see if there's room for a factory.

I looked through the latter part of the thread myself and found a number of great candidates that you might enjoy as your factory home.

Ambassador Class Trading Hub, submitted by GaeasSon (I didn't catch the thread page number on this one. It's on multiple pages as he made progress.)
Unnamed Trading Station, submitted by El_Poulpy (pp 44)
Trading Guild Supermarket, submitted by Mariux (pp 45)
Head Quarters Station for the Trade Guild, submitted by ShinNoir (pp 47)
Abandoned Station, submitted by Commodore (pp 49)

I haven't verified the downloads yet, but most of them should be available to download and all of them look like they should have enough room for factory groups.

In this case i must mirror @FunnyBunny14 in the sense that if your looking for something unique and specific nothing beats just making your own station. iv been playing hc survival for a couple of weeks now and iv managed to be able to make a reasonably sized station by now.

i not only have ample room to make all my storage and factory rooms, but its colorful and unique looking! granted it may not be as fancy as some of the stations you will find in the station contest thread. but i wouldn't trade it for anything! because i know that i made it and no one else will have a station exactly like it. its just adds your own unique touch to your universe, and has all the feature you could desire on it. plus with symmetries enabled, stations practically build them selves!

so ya, makeing your own station is obviously more work than just downloading one. but i my honest opinion it makes the experience ten times more fun! by the time your finished you cant help but feel a sense of accomplishment! and you can always expand and keep expanding forever! below are a couple of pics of my station "clarks vision". it started out as just the little building with the landing pad on the lower left, and slowly i expanded and made the larger building next to it, then came the gardens and finally the much larger area behind the first main buildings (which will become my main factory floor and storage areas, along with recreation/inspirational view ports. also i have a lets play coming up to show off the new additions to the station) again its not nearly as fancy or elegant as some of the other stations, but i just cant help but get a feeling of nostalgia every time i load up my world now and continue to add to it and see it grow bigger and bigger! so give it a try, it will just make you appreciate/love this game that much more!

My station has factory facilities built in. Feel free... http://starmadedock.net/content/ambassador-class-trading-hub.888/
Wow, simply amazing work GaeasSon, stunning really. I'm going back and forth between yours, Maranello's Trading Guild SpacePort 2.0, and ShinNoir's Trade Guild Head Quarters. I'd have no problem docking my Super Harvester Worldreaper outside?

Also I have no idea how get your .smsec imported into the game :) .sment's I can do but not .smsec's apparently.

Your passion for creating something unique and personal is inspiring. If I wasn't so wet behind the ears in SM I'd be doing this too. But I wouldn't mind getting a factory started early so I can generate enough credits to absorb mistakes in-game without worrying about the cost. Love the lawn in space :)
