are you using the full version of Avast or the Free basic one (i have no problem with the later while using Starmade)
but what Megacrafter127 said most likely a problem on your end, blocking ports or sandboxing the Java Starmade application.
try disabling all modules from Avast and run SM in singleplayer then, if that works you just have to find a way to make an execption for SM in the Avast sandbox/firewall setup.

Do you have some illumination hardware installed on your computer? that sometimes interferes with starmade too.

attach the Log.txt.x file from the last try here. you can find that in Starmade/logs. (even though i have no big hopes finding a clue there :( )

maybe something messed up "localhost" ? (not an expert here)

either try connecting manual to your own ip adress with :4242 or 127.0.0.1:4242 after starting a dedicated server

if not you may want to update your Java to 64bit latest version (that is not auto installed by the java installer)
    edit : Java -> https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

First launcher Options - Server Port - place 4242 there. maybe changing that is not working and a bug then.

I just wanna say I have the exact same problem since I've bought the game. Everytime when an update is released I'm really hopeful because the "bug" could finally be gone but nope. I used the diagnostic tool, everything looks fine, I'm sure I have the correct java version, my antivirus is infact inactive for today because me licence is gone.. but still.. its really frustrating. Is it because I use fucking SLI Graphics? I'm getting angrier everytime I read in this forum because this problem is allready over a Year reported by several guys and at the end noone could help and so they gave up. Shall we just uninstall and give a fuck?

Yes I'm also having a very unique issue while in game that seems to be unique to AMD Radeon cards and build .18999. A few others have reported issues as well. I'm trying to stay hopeful that it will be fixed but I have a sneaky suspicion that it may not be. As with this issue it's not wide spread and only effecting a few players in which I can see them saying, "Eh, it's only around 100 players maybe that have this issue. Let's focus on bigger things." And my thread, posted yesterday, is already dead. But here's to hoping!

Well yes, I installed the wrong windows 7 and when i found out it was already to late.

I will try switching the port back to 4242

EDIT: but 32 bit isn't that big of a deal right?

if you are running 32bit than it is that way.
you are limited by java to use 1024 -2048 (do not know exactly how much) in Memory for the game.
and 64bit java runs the game far better in general (sorry to say so)
and win32 cant adress more than 3,5 (aprox) gb of memory at all
so i would suggest to reinstall win 7 sometime and update to 64 bit when your hardware supports that.

Abanox what exactly is the problem ?

that is limited by your CPU. when it has an x64 command set you can run 64bit os.
What is the model of your CPU then ?

yes ... that one is 64bit.

and the download obviously failed. got corrupted or something like that. a lot of people seem to have problems ... i cant comment on that .. i had no problems ever so far updating the game.

you could try to use the non steam launcher to download the game from the server (maybe it is a problem with the steam service or something like that ??) after that you could simply copy all files to the steam starmade installation folder .

Yea i saw that, i redownloaded it and still trying,

I did already disconnect steam from it, now I can run it without steam just the launcher.

Well atleast thank you for your time so far.
