Stripes. Use the yellow to highlight with brown as the primary. Would fit the \"Lionfish\" name, methinks, too :P

I\'m still working on fixing a mouse issue, but as soon as I can play again I\'ll start experimentating. Perhaps start with a normal coloring until I\'m happy with the shape.

A pattern close to what the original fish has would be interesting.. and I haven\'t seen much (none I can think of) paintjobs like that on starmade yet. Perhaps I wouldn\'t apply it everywhere, but maybe the thicker, bulkier parts (notably the large triangular part covereing the front.)

Definately like the idea. Brown may not stick for the official vessels, but for the original, liking it.

Yeah, try a custom paint job for your personal vessel :D

I\'m imagining it as being roughly 200m long for detailing purposes. At that size it\'s theoretically possible to make sensor rods that big, though they\'d still be a bit ugly because of the whole cubism thing.

Fighters tend to be 10-50m long, with the larger end of the scale needing turrets... Hm. Dunno how to scale the fighters to the cruisers. Interesting project concept, of course.

Have a quick concept for the paint job and the way it might fit together on a ship.

I\'ll agree that the yellow is entirely too much of a greenish bright yellow, but there\'s not much to be done there. D:

After looking at some ships on the forums I was thinking a range between 200-300 looked about right, so your imagination is close to mine.

It\'s a shame for the spines though, it\'ll be work experimenting with wedges a lot I guess. Other than the bridge, interior isn\'t planned to have much more than crew quarters and an obligatory fake Radar Room in its core.

By the way, the circles at the front were meant as torpedo/missile tubes. Backstory wise, it\'s not made to pack a few hard punches, but rather to spot and hit hard, then mostly hold on until back up can arrive. Also design-wise... spines were totally a last minute thing and it\'s only after that I found them a purpose >> It was pure aesthetic at first.

How darker is the hardened brown?
Also, since the yellow\'s so bright, it\'d be possible to fall back to real fish again, and go with a white base. Intended white for the central parts of the ship, with the \"scales\" and \"plates\" parts (not sure how to explain it, all those things who seem \"added\" ontop of the narrow base of the ship) being darker.

But perhaps white could be an acceptable replacement for yellow. A lionfish, for those who didn\'t know.

Anyways, I don\'t mind you doing what you want with it o: Might even use yours and work off of it if I like it and you don\'t mind. Right now I work most days so not much is getting done in game :P I assume that\'s the bridge?

Spines could have a secondary purpose.
Make sure they\'re a good 15-20m long and add Disintegrators to the tips for those unfortunate cases in which an angry pilot attempts to crash a suicide bomb into your ship (or in those unfortunate cases where your weapons are made useless)

Ah, okay. So, for practical applications there\'d be a single weapons computer controlled by the captain along with 8 or so missile computers and high reload time to more or less make a wall of pain?

Since missiles don\'t look bigger when they\'re actually more deadly, people will almost always run from missiles. Dump blast radius and projectile speed in favor of reload speed in order to intimidate (and failing that, significantly harm without being an instant kill). From what I can tell, these are more of a police force type ship.

While BB missiles only home in on specific targets, KB missiles can home in on cloaked ones (assuming you\'re able to get it to go the right direction) if I remember correctly. Both have uses since the BB won\'t somehow spin around and hit friendly or docked ships, whereas KB can home in on jammed ships (useful in an anti-stealth role).

    Ah, missed another post.

That was just a concept bridge I tossed together in two to three minutes. Will look into other potential paint jobs, in keeping with the Lion Fish theme. There are enough breeds to give us roughly 5 or so different patterns and colorations, so I\'ll experiment a little. See what works best and whatnot.

Naturally, the original will have to be boring grey for speed\'s sake :P

Police is right. Lore-wise is was a patrol ship, made to survey and cover distances and save the fleet from overspreading. Anywho, that\'s only story-candy.

As for the lionfish\'s intended use in-game, it\'s exactly that, a security vessel. The Hall stands on a delicate trust balance to work. It mostly trusts the customers to not stirr up trouble, and in return, the clients can trust not to be bothered as long as they don\'t cause trouble. However. The issue will most likely come from customer-customer conflicts. Trading while not on ship limits how much admage can suddenly happen over disagreements.. until sidearms are a thing.

Anyways, heat seekers would be rather risky to shoot in the vicinity of a sector filled with a station and parked ships.. That\'d honestly probably go wrong.. Alongway with the ship\'s lore of high power detectors, it\'d make sense to have accurately guided missiles. In the long run, they are guard dogs inteded to bark, but be able to bite. It\'s a neutral ground after all

Do like the idea of bombs at the end of the spines.. since the fish\'s actual spines are poisonous (hehe). It reminds me of a post about ramming spears I saw some time ago ;) Just revisited.

Gosh, I\'m making this long again. But PS: That asteroid in the background, it\'s probably just the distance and lightning but, what is that goldy-material? I thought it was sand mostly.

Since I don\'t even know for sure what the official Hall\'s color scheme will be.Grey is also the easiest hull to have in large quantities.

    Sand AND lava, I think.

Okay, since it\'s a security vessel it should be optimized to be *capable* of demolishing a ship - but only very, VERY deliberately. A blast radius of 3 to 5 could work well for each individual missile, while spamming extras will just increase the devastation. Fire an AMC burst across the hull of beligerent fighters, hit aggressive frigates with a weak, long-range warning missile, etc.

Remind all patrons that fights are to be kept well outside of the sector.

Incidentally - sidearms would be great. It\'d have a small chance of those classic Greedo+Han \"conversations\" occurring every now and then, followed by a VERY heavy cleanup fee to the cleaning crews (and potentially other passengers - if a sufficiently extreme apology isn\'t made, then the offending customer is arrested on charges of terrorizing the patrons and risking damage to the station - along with being required to pay the repainting fees on the walls). Would require a lot of maintenance and potentially constant minimum crew of 1 person though...

Welp, rest assured that if I get this thing up and running, I\'m not going anywhere. Especially if this is blasting.

If I ever want to work on ships or stuff, I can always work in the next sector. This thing will be filled with blueish diamonds enough as is it haha.

As for a repair fee, until a credits-exchange is possible (don\'t really even need it, or think it will appear), raw materials are the currency ain\'t they? Plug the hole, least they can do.

    Definitely.

I\'m thinking that the station itself could serve as a trade location.
All materials sold to the station go for *roughly* the average amount of money they can be bought for, adjusted slightly for demand to ensure a balanced in/out.

If a person wants better prices for trade, then they should go further.

Incidentally, I wonder how viable it would be to make specific minerals more common in specific ranges of sectors than others. If you\'re looking into cloning the Core block for its sound generation, then perhaps you could look at the random spread of planets and asteroids? Make it so that any given faction\'s possible territory doesn\'t make more than one *major* component of a ship at a time. Nobody would make hulls AND shields, for instance. Materials for salvage, naturally, would have to be evenly spread so that mining rates are potentially even. Encourage trading at the Hall - or just doing direct delivery for a better sale price.

Incidentally - for internal security purposes, I just had an idea for a tiny craft that\'s specifically meant for patrolling hallways and either stopping fights or escorting people. Will post a screenshot of a concept in a few moments, but the main hallways would have to be enlarged slightly to accommodate it.

Think it\'d be possible to have 5-blocks AI drones? If anything, Small Auto turrets in some sections, like entrance to residence quarters, or faction-\"rented\" lounges. Either way, so many stuff to be great.

Trading -is- one of the main intended purposes of the Hall. I honestly didn\'t think too much into it, it was more of a platform. You wanna trade anything? We don\'t ask question what you sell or who you sell it to, you can do it here. Don\'t stir up trouble, the only rule.

Though while we\'re at it, no reason for the Hall not to have a proper trading of its own.

Your ressources idea once again points me in the direction of a dedicated server. It has a lots of perks.. Notably, since it\'s a neutral ground and that it won\'t actually attack people that don\'t do wrong buisness with it, the Hall could be cheated into an invincible sector, like a shop doesn\'t take damage (or if they do, I never got there). That\'d be cheap though. Amongst the perks of a dedicated server, also, can build at ease, open server when ready. There\'s also that sound thing that\'d be easy to manage on a server side. Gah. If only my current home computer wasn\'t garbage. I\'ll look into it.

Put together a quick demo hallway that clearly needs to be one block taller. Either way - it gets the point across. The bot is 3 blocks tall and 2 deep. If absolutely necessary I could throw some Bobby AI in it in place of thrusters since a lone core can move as fast as an unassisted player, but the AI has absolutely awful pathfinding (ie: none).

That wording\'s just awesome. A more customizable AI -is- in the work as planned feature, eventually. Until then, the concept of drone can be kept. I\'d say \"have it hidden\" if it didn\'t obviously have a diamond indicating it. Instead of an AI in the meantime, might want to put a faction mod and restrict use. Not sure how those faction blocks work, bah.

As for personal opinion on appearance, looks cool, though I\'d drop the blue-and red. This ain\'t the police.. after all, most buisness supported on the Hall isn\'t exactly.. always legal. Perhaps 2 reds could give it an alarming look? love this idea alot though, never had thought of an indoor drone.

Alright, reworking the colors to mean \"Halt! You have violated the law! Hand over your sto-\" Actually, no. More of a signal that you\'re being an idiot and need to leave or be turned into a smoking stain on the wall.

I also tossed together an AI drone that lacks lights but still looks very, very angry. Both now have Faction Blocks after a bit of reworking.

In any case - on the whole \"Keep It Hidden\" thing...
With a faction module on the main portion of the base (docking area would have to be a separate station because of the way Starmade handles faction objects), PlexDoors can ONLY be opened by members of the faction. That way there could be occasional doorways in the walls of rooms and hallways that can be opened in case of emergencies.

As it stands, if I remember correctly, docked objects aren\'t always showing IFFs. I\'m guessing that on the next version, docked objects will *never* show an IFF.
