No game I have every played rewards griefing as much as this game.

Trying to build a ship at spawn? Get pushed out and slaughtered.

Need to log out for a moment? Your ship gets stolen/scrapped or someone from your own faction steals it.

Just collecting resources? Get slaughtered by a guy with an uber powerful ship.

The griefing is taking all the fun out of this game.

Most reasons why it\'s recommended to leave spawn asap...it\'s not a fully protected zone.

Disabling the ability to push ships out of the spawn sector should fix the issue, though.

It is early alpha, so not everthing is thought out and well implemented yet.

Also, it sounds like you are playing on a bad server. Try augmented reality server, search it on forums. You need to be whitelisted and i haven\'t seen any thing like that in 2 days straight of playing. Admins are helpful and everything.

Don\'t get me wrong though, there is still pvp. But 4,4,4 to -4,-4,-4 is a complete safe zone. Anything outside of that zone is \"anything goes\". It works quite well.

If you can\'t handle it, don\'t play it.

The solution is easy... If you want to settle down just get out of spawn with your core, build your ship at some distant shop, then fly even further.. Like 60 sectors from spawn, collect enough resources to buy a faction block, then claim a planet as faction base, and dock all your stuff on it.. Done.

After that you can save the stuff you build as blueprints so you can buy your ship right away when it gets stolen, and you can make trips to spawn, annoy other people, explore :D

There is nothing of consequence to lose (besides your pride) if you\'re careful. Carry extra ship cores and parts , fly away from spawn , tag your ships with faction modules , save blueprints of all your ships (especially those being built) then dock them to your homebase , add lots of shields to prototypes you\'re building , and log out at a shop preferably not near your respawn point. If someone ends up killing you despite that , do not write anything. As with pirates flying salvagers , shooting something defenseless that does not talk is pointless and should get old fast even for the most idiotic trolls.

Whilst I agree that griefing is a serious problem in this game, I feel that attempting to rectify this may put a dampen on other aspects of the game, like faction wars. Running a mission to another factions home to grief the construction of there latest flagship is part of the game, and taking it away will ruin the game for many players. If you want too prevent griefing, hide your ships.

Griefing is inherently rewarded whenever it\'s allowed. The point of it is to take and/or destroy what\'s not yours. If the griefer gets something, then he\'s been rewarded. The only way to stop that kind of thing is to hard-code restrictions and chase them away from the game entirely.

In an FPS like this ... there\'s good and bad to that. If anything, ownership and copying of blueprints is probably the biggest problem there is to solve.

I agree with that griefing is promoted in this game... Or rather... The mechanics of the game cause it to be a common thing.

I predict in the near future the establishment of an organised faction that actively defends the spawn point for new players, with variations on their fleet in multiple servers.

Of course, I am a terrible wizard and my predictions tend to go wonky leaving me completely miserably wrong in all my predictions.

never trust a glass \'crystal\' ball. Heated sand knows NOTHING about the future.

The only thing getting rewarded here is your destruction for making the foolish decision of building at spawn. Don\'t do it. Do you build your personal house right next to the server spawn on a minecraft server? If you do, you know what happens: You get griefed.

If you need to log out, then first save your ship to the catalog so if it\'s stolen you can just go and buy the ship again. If the fellow members of your faction are stealing your own ships, you probably have no business being in that faction in the first place. Or, your faction has socialist policies where ships are shared, and you didn\'t know.

If you\'re harvesting resources and getting killed constantly by people in powerful ships, you need to either go harvest somewhere else or build yourself a stronger harvester. My harvester ships have the firepower of a small cruiser and strong shields. It\'s a match for mostly anything that tries to attack me, warship or not.

None of the points you listed are examples of griefing. None of them contain any wrongdoing on the assailant\'s end. They are playing the game fairly and doing what the game\'s designed to do. You\'re simply the victim of space warfare and others taking advantage of your ships weaknesses and your own strategies. Play smarter, build stronger, and fly out farther.

Perhaps you\'re used to the security of the typical Minecraft server where everyone\'s limited in the freedom they have with destroying blocks, but here on StarMade the catalog system and everything else allows for real space combat. I\'m glad to play the game this way because unlike Minecraft, where you get banned for \"griefing\" your enemy\'s base after he kills you, you have total freedom with how you can attack and destroy everyone that stands in your way. The weak do not get their way on this game.

There are game elements in place that combat this issue. Its just a matter of using them. Of course \"griefing\" is encouraged, its meant to be a pvp game. These are warships you\'re building, not suburban homes. They are meant to be shot up, and if you don\'t take the necessary precuations to prevent that, then that is your own fault.

Also... There\'s more than one shop. Just a little hint for you.
