I need advice. You see, I visit the forums very often, few times a day. I'm thinking about applying to be a moderator. Thing is, I don't know if I'm the right person. I gained quite a bit of hate on the MF trailer controversy thread (most of you probably know what I'm talking about) from some people, including direct insults from ones I trusted and respected. And I'm still quite mad at that specific person. Yes, I agree, the competition thread was a horrible idea and I'm sorry if somebody took it as a direct offence towards MF. There was a bit of negativity from admins and devs towards me as well-and I'm sure that reduces my chances of becoming a mod. But what they also said, is they want people to be active and helpful. That's what I want to do. I just want to help. It's not about the colored nametag, or other fancy things. It's because I care about the game and about the community, whether you're a member of MF or not.

you probably still have more of a chance of getting accepted than me. I got banned from the old chat once and the new chat once.
There is ways to increase your chance of becoming accepted
You could make videos for starmade
Build great ships
Suggest good ideas on forum that improves the game and the forums
Be kind and friendly on chat
be active
not getting banned before would increase your chance

Moderating a forum is good fun, and definitely a good way to get sustained interaction with the game and the community .

Of course, there are ups and downs, mainly that you cannot troll as much as you did :P

I think you're not. I left competition stuff aside, since I knew where it gonna lead in the end, but the very idea to behave so arrogantly against developers and creative people made me uncomfortable. From my experience with moderation, it takes a very sceptic and cold-blooded individual to resolve issues before they come to fruition. I had thoughts about applying for SM moderation several months ago to watch over the US night time, but felt it would be too time consuming and hardly rewarding, and I'm also not a man of compromise.

If you want to apply then go ahead, but I honestly doubt you have what it takes to perform this role in beneficial manner.

Well, if I do decide to become a moderator, I will use the form And do a lot of research on the forum software, because it appears it's pretty impotant. I've created the thread just for people to help me decide.[DOUBLEPOST=1417533284,1417532600][/DOUBLEPOST]

I believe that a big part of being a moderator is being able to let negativity slip, like water off a duck's back. You'll need to be sure you can walk it off. If you can't, you'll walk off the job instead. That goes for many things, really.

I was about to apply a second ago. Then I thought better. Love the game of course. Much more active on these forums now. Would probably do at least a decent job.
