Essentially what we're saying is that you will be able to number your votes in order of highest preference to lowest preference, but you won't be numbering every single applicant. The number of names that you can vote and number for will always be a percentage of the total number of names on the ballot. So if we have 10 applicants on the ballot, we may say give us a 1st 2nd and 3rd preference on your voting. So top 3. If we have 40 applicants it might be top 5 or top 10, so the number of people you can essentially vote for, increases. This makes more sense for us as if you were to vote on just one person and that's it, then there'd be a lot more favoritism and also would be difficult for us to fill the whole council if say everyone voted for one person and everyone else got 0.

also will there be a maximum amount of seats up for grabs? if everyone and their mother decides to join we would have to vote for something like 50-100 councilors?

This'll be especially relevant if the community gets really big. We've got 30,000~ registered users (most of which are not frequently active, but still). Imagine how many applicants we'd be getting with a 100,000 member community, or even more.

Yes but the station contest you didn't have the ability to actually order your votes by preference. True though that would have made it at least a bit clearer.

There will be a maximum amount of spaces up for grabs. I think we've said between 8 and 12, I'll need to check exactly what we said.
