This allows for an alternate (and more realistic in terms of RP) method to create a station. We could use the existing (but unused) death star core for the anchor for this, so no need to add a new block to the game.
When a ship core is placed on an asteroid, or a ship, when converted through build mode, is set to become a station, the ship core becomes an anchor block, and that entity slowly moves to orient it's self to the galactic center (like hitting "C" when in flight mode). When this is done, the entity is no longer moveable/bumpable, and the ship can no longer be flown.
When a shipyard computer is attached/adjacent to an anchor, it allows for shipyard like options: repairing, as well as design, but the repair/construction takes place at 1/10th the normal shipyard construction rate by default (let server admins tweak this if they want). Regardless of the new design, there still must exist a shipyard computer placed adjacent to the anchor, and the shipyard storage area must not be reduced. This will allow for repairing a station like ships can be repaired at a space dock, as well as creating a new station without using a blueprint to magically spawn one into thin air.
Loading a design would be slightly different when in this mode as it would instead transport the player directly into build mode rather than showing a hologram of the new design like shipyards currently do. This will allow for a way for players to design their stations in creative mode in-game like ships can currently be designed, as well as create ships that can be used to construct stations rather than spawning a block after dumping a ton of credits into space. This new twist on how to create and edit designs will allow a design computer to be placed on ships and used without being attached to a shipyard as well (except you won't be able to actually build anything, just design a ship or station--or maybe repair your current ship after a battle).
Stations made in this way will not be announced on the galactic map. If you want your station to be advertised on the galactic map, then the 1 million (or whatever the server config station cost is) credits would be charged to list the station. So sure, you can build a station without any credits, but, if you have a shop, nobody would know about it. Stations that take control over a sector must be advertised, however, unless it's a planet.
As an added bonus to having a core/anchor on a station, this will allow you to fire modules that normally couldn't be activated, such as antennas, inner ship remotes, jump inhibitors, and move between cameras and turrets. The only thing you wouldn't be able to do is move the structure. Although, I am a fan of using jump/warp drives to move a station to a new location, so long as coordinates are set before the jump and the jump process causes shields to drop to zero and takes a few minutes to complete after being activated .
